 Viewing Icon sets?

by angrykeyboarder on: Feb 1 2006

Score 50%

How do I filter for just sets of icons rather than having to wade through the posts from people posting a single icon to find sets?

If I click on "Icon themes" I get nothing.

Thanks.

It seems that there is no way to get result in the way you want to. Kde-look.org is seeming to be uncapable of doing this, because there is just one category "Icons".

Tiblit 1.2 has an option not to show any menu icons, but this doesn't apply just to the K Menu, it applies to all menus.

 Problem windeco

Hi all
I'd like to apply the crystal windeco theme to my suse10 Desktop.
I downloaded from everaldos site the tar.gz file. All it contains is 3 folders filled with files. I have no bloody idea where to put it so that I have that nice Windeco.

I know that it's only a windeco, but as I'm rather an aesthetic addicted person, that matters for me.

Thanks for all help

 Gesture to quit app

by Ekardnam on: Feb 3 2006

Hi,

I wonder how I easily could add a mouse gesture to close the current window. KHotKeys, Gesture -> Keyboard input, doesn't seem to work. It works with the most keyboard inputs, but alt+F4 (or whatever the short to close the window is) just doesn't work. I get the same result using xvkbd. And DCOP doesn't seem to work at all.

I would really appreciate help. Thanks in advance.

For me it didn't work with any gesture, or any keyboard input. Running SUSE Linux 10.0, KDE 3.5.1.

 k9copy Problem

by Scarletdown on: Feb 5 2006

Score 50%

I am trying to reduce the size of a DVD ISO image I created so that it
can be burned onto a single layer DVD-RW disc before burning it to a
regular DVD-R. I figured out how to actually mount the original ISO,
and access it like a physical DVD with this command:

mount -o loop -t
iso9660 /archives/DVD-Work/ISO-Images/Space-Firebird.iso /dvd

I tested this with XINE, and the ISO plays normally when I click the DVD
button. In other words, it brings up the DVD menu I created with
QDVDAuthor, and plays the movie when I click on the 'Play Movie' button
I created on the menu.

So then, I set /dev/loop0 as the input device for k9copy and loaded the
image for processing. k9copy reads the ISO and gives me this info:

- Space
- Title 01 5049.93 mb
- audio 1 unknown mp2 2ch 48KHz 20bps 176.75 mb
- video NTSC - 1:36:37 4850.81 mb

Next I try 'Play Title', and the movie (without the menu) plays quietly
in a little preview window). With the output device set to ISO Image,
and the 'Keep Original Menus' checkbox selected, I click Copy, and the
DVD backup process begins (which I am assuming will also give a bit of
compression to make the production fit on a SL disk). This takes 2
minutes and 23 seconds, after which, I am asked where I want to save the
ISO image.

I save it on the partition with the most available space, of course,
then only about 2 seconds later, I am informed that DVD burning is
finished (no errors or other warnings).

When I check out the newly created ISO, it is only 2MB, which I know is
not how it should be, considering the original was 4.9GB (.2GB too big
to fit a SL DVD-R). Apparently, all the ISO contains is the DVD menu.
This is confirmed by loading the ISO in XINE. The menu indeed comes up,
but clicking on 'Play Movie' gives me a 'Source can't be read' error.

Also, in the troubleshooting process, I went ahead and burned
the ISO directly to a DVD+RW disk. The problem remains. However, I
do see now that although the menu was properly burned to the disk as
VIDEO_TS.VOB (1,016KB MPEG Video), the movie itself shows as
VTS_01_1.VOB (0KB Empty Document).

I'm not sure what to try next in the troubleshooting process.

So now, what do I need to do to get this program to work properly?

k9copy looks like the only native Linux solution for compressing a DVD
image to fit on a 4.7GB disk. It's just a shame that there are no help
files or an actual support forum for this, because otherwise, it looks
like a potential killer app for Linux, or at least a great component for
a suite of potential killer apps for full-blown DVD production.

You need to make sure you put a check next to the titles and audio tracks you want included befor creating the ISO.

Also, if you don't need the menus, don't keep them. Leaving them will decrease the video quality.

Both attempts failed. On the first one, the only checkable boxes were for the root title and the audio. There is no check box for the movie itself. Here's a screen shot to show what I mean:

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y129/Scarletdown/K9C-Screenshot.jpg

Then I tried without the menu, and got this strange error:

An error occured while running DVDAuthor:
play_cell: Fatal: write failed: Broken pipe ERR: Error reading from pipe: No such file or directory

Any ideas on what might be causing this?

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
