 "silent update" bug

by knowheretorun on: Apr 18 2008

Score 50%

then you choose to update the content without announcing it on home page, then the site fails to change the last date then content was updated.
example:
http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Periglacial+Shuttle+Blue?content=76933
updated 18th April 2008, but site claims no update has been done after initial upload date Mar 15 2008

anyways - is this forum "the right" place to submit bug reports about kde-look.org?

When you don't want to announce an update, why shall the date chance? I don't consider this as an bug. This feature is there to silently perform changes like fixing typos or add further downloads. When you upload new content, you should announce it and maintain the changelog.

 missing categories

despite getting no response to my last kde-look.org bug reports, there is another for you:

there are a few categories missing in the left part of the interface layout, but they do actually exist:

* Wallpapers
- Other
* Window Decorations
- IceWM

There are numerous categories that exist, but do not have their own entries in the content menu. These categories are included in other content sections. E.g. other wallpapers are shown in the general Wallpapers section.

The Content Box does not list categories. It lists content types.

 Help a lost NUB?

by stevezygote on: May 22 2008

Score 50%

How do you install sound themes. Or system sounds? I downloaded some nice system sounds off here (much thanks) but the instructions I got don't seem to fit with my system (Kubuntu 8.04 -- KDE 3.5).

How to install system sounds

* Browse to ~/.kde/share/
* Create a folder called "sounds"
* Extract your sounds to this folder
* Open the KDE-Menu an start the Control Center
...etc.

I don't have a ~/.kde or can't find it, even when I turn on hidden files.

Just enter ~/.kde in the location bar. I assume that you use konqueror?

~ is equivalent to your home directory, i.e /home/username.

Hi,
I'm on Debian Testing and I always have an error when I make Windows Decoration from sources.

ex :
Quote:

"opaquedark.h:141: error: expected class-name before '{' token
opaquedark.h:146: error: 'BorderSize' was not declared in this scope
opaquedark.h:146: error: template argument 1 is invalid
opaquedark.h:148: error: ISO C++ forbids declaration of 'KDecoration' with no type
opaquedark.h:148: error: 'KDecoration' declared as a 'virtual' field
opaquedark.h:148: error: expected ';' before '*' token
opaquedark.h:141: warning: 'class Opaquedark::OpaquedarkHandler' has virtual functions but non-virtual destructor
opaquedark.h:293: error: expected class-name before '{' token
opaquedark.h:298: error: expected `)' before '*' token

Any Idea?

 kde4

Hi all!

I have used gnome for some time now and
I have created some themes for it, and
now I'm switching over to kde4 and I was
wondering if it is hard to create themes
for it and if there is something similar
to the pixmaps engine in gnome which
loads png images to display graphical objects
like buttons and stuff?

any help appreciated!

Yeah thanks! you misunderstood me there...
I was not looking for themes for kde4
I could find those myself, What I was
looking for was some answers on how
to theme kde 4 (make my own themes)
but maybe I should begin with looking
at somebody elses work and try to understand it.

Thanks anyway!!

Actually I did understand what you want. Just I haven't looked at kde4 styles besides oxygen & skulpture, so I suggested you look if there is already similar pixmaps-engine-like style (probably isn't).
Hope you find these links useful:

 Question about 0 downloading ?

by sakasa on: Jun 18 2008

Score 50%

Lately I have added content and after uploading it to your server the downloads remain on 0 downloads. I had two members already telling me that even know they have download it the download remains on 0 quantity.

People are downloading my images but these downloads remain in 0. Is there new changes from the server and if not what could it cause this situation?

If anyone can help me with this because I never experience this situation before after many uploads to KDE.org or Gnome.org.

Any answer is appreciated Iam lost on this.

Thank you knowheretorun. I already had an e-mail from Frank telling me that you guys are working on the server. It seems that already the download issue is fix.
Sure the site is extremely slow. It has take lately about 10 minutes to be able to upload and sometimes I had to re-try the upload, because it uploaded one image and the other like, the screenshot did not. I figure this happens because the slowness of the site. Well keep on the great work and I really appreciate all of your kind effort to these situations.

Outstanding team you guys have.

Best Regards,

Faithfully yours Sakasa.

I'm not an admin, I just downloaded one of your latest uploads I could find :-D and looked if download counter goes up. One of the explanations could be that the site is **** slow right now. For me it's impossible to browse like this.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
