I'm having trouble installing new plasmoids. Following the directions on this site, when I come to this step:

cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX='kde4-config --prefix'

I get an error-

CMake Error at /usr/share/cmake-2.6/Modules/FindKDE4.cmake:84 (MESSAGE):

Can anyone help me out?

I set my panel/"taskbar" to autohide to free up desktop space. Because of this, it comes up over random backgrounds - especially status bars of other windows and that makes it very hard to read.

What can I do to make the whole thing (taskbar, panel, etc.) have an opaque background?

Currently, I am using the oxygen theme, kde 4.2.2, kubuntu jaunty. I like it, but could switch to another one if it fixes this feature for me.

TIA
Joe

OLD KDE Themes from kde 1/2.x

 by rik123 on: Jul 27 2009

Hi, I'm searching two things:

1. A wallpaper pattern that looks like a fine knitted green background.

2. A theme that is dark. for kde 1 or 2. they are a bit of a gothic style and I think this is called dark-green. The shape of the windows got drops and so. In these times there were also themes with the same shape but different colors. Like: dark-red or dark-blue.

Maybe some can help me. Because I'm pretty sure I downloaded it from here.

Thanks for your help and keep on that nice eyecandy stuff.

I know it's a long time since these days. And a theme shouldn't be so importand. But when I think back, I loved this theme and before that time this nice "fine-knitted-like little light bilious green background.

 KDE4 Icons

by starger on: Jul 30 2009

I have problems with any kind of external icon themes:

-I tried KDE4 Crystal Diamond, OS-k, Futursoft and nuovext_black

-The toolbar-icons change but there is no change of the folder-icons in konqueror or dolphin

I tried to reinstall Opensuse 11.1 with no result (deleting "/home" included).

I updated KDE 4.1.3 -> 4.2.4 release 2 with no result.

Can anybody help me?

KDE3 and KDE4 icon themes are not compatible, e.g. KDE4 needs the folder "places" instead of "filesystems" and in KDE4 the folder icon names require a minus instead of an underscore. Nearly all icon names are totally different.

I still haven't updated nuovext_black to KDE4.

Want Debian Sid with spices? Get sidux at sidux.com - it simply works :)

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
