 Beryl Ice cube reqst

 by 5er on: May 6 2007

Any artist out of ideas or have nothing to do?

I need a beryl ice cube to put it into my orangeade. What I request is a wallpaper looking like a side of an ice cube in which left and right side match and also top and bottom side match. So it will fit into a cube smoothly.

Thanks in advance.

What I mean with my orangeade - http://shrani.si/files/skydome1zqoj.png

And I would just like the cube to be an ice cube in the drink.

The style and windeco were released as a tarball some time ago. Search for 'linspire clear' in your distro's repository, or via Google.

Personally, I don't like Linspire Clear much. It has major problems with display at 16-bit color.

But then again, so does Plastik...

 wallpapers formats

i don't really see the point in categorizing wallpapers in so many subsections. i believe image resolution should not be a criteria for categories, imho image format (i.e. regular 4/3 ou widescreen 16/10) would be more relevant.

lately i've noticed people tend to multiple-post their creations, so that they make them available from 800x600 up to 1600x1200. this is nonsense because they post their creations up to 4 times and this make this website bloated.

any user who's interested in a given wallpaper is able to resize it, especially in kde where it requires not effort at all.

therefore i think a single entry should be sufficient for any creation. Posters could then provide links for different resolutions from this unique entry.

just my 2 cents...

I agree, now you either have to add the wallpaper again for every resolution, or have a package with many resolutions that only shows under a certain resolution. Neither is good, would be much better if I can first choose the screen format (4:3) and then have a filter for resolutions.

Or change the system so that we can have wallpapers with different resolutions under one post, and it will show up for every available resolution when you search for wallpapers.

 Wallpapers RIP...

by conholster on: Aug 7 2007

kde-look.org used to be a great source for wallpapers, now the whole section is filled with some of the worst photographs ever...damn it, my grandma's vacation shots are even more exciting than the countless shots of cats, dogs and other shit ppl submit.

Is this flickr now? sure looks like it. I'm almost 100% sure that atlest half of above mentioned wallpapers are submitted by windows/mac users who want just want some attention! Could there be some rule that you cant upload your photos if youre using windows/mac unless theyre really good i.e pro-stuff-that-is-on-windows-xp-or-vista-by-default?

Anyone else got any thoughts on this or is it just me?

Hi,

there is an easy solution.

You can choose 60% or 70% on the filter box on the right hand side. This setting is stored in a permanent cookie on you PC. So everytime you visit KDE-Look.org you only see high quality content.

Cheers

 Wallpapers RIP?

by LinuxfanMarcel on: Aug 8 2007

Hi

i think there are masses of really good wallpapers here on KDE-look.org, just click "Wallpapers" and "Highest Rated".

One problem is posting the same WP in different resolutions, everyone should use 1600 x 1200, the largest resolution, so you don´t have to post any bigger versions of your wallpaper.

And what about stopping posting useless pictures as wallpapers? If you don´t like your photo as wallpaper, no other will like it...;-)

Greets,
Marcel

Um... By whose definition should we deem a photo useless? Something for everyone right? I personally like the variety. Go on take any photo you want! Open our eyes to the everyday things that may be beautiful in their own special way!

Sure, take any photo you want. But I don't feel like scrolling through a pile of badly shot photos of a restraunt, of somebody's house.

Its one thing to find beauty in an everyday object, but its another thing to take photos of badly placed things, with a cheap digital camera and call it a wallpaper.

I also think there are alot nice wallpapers here on this site, although I think the brwosing of them could be better. For example, there are alot of the same picture/wallpaper in different sizes. This gets abit "overwhelming". Why not only ONE wallpaper section, and when you click the wallpaper you want, you can choose the size in a dropdown-menu, or some thing like that. (offcourse those sizes the uploader uploaded:))... For reference, check www.interfacelift.com. Its a nice approach I think.

 Retro-Enlightenment

I'm a long time KDE user, but you know I sometimes get nostalgic and long back for the old, uber-sweet Enlightenment DR.0.11 window manager from 97/98..

Sure it was buggy and kept crashing, but man did it look good!

If only someone could recreate that experience by resurrecting it as a KDE theme..

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
