 qt3-qt4 as in gtk-qt

Is there anything like this planned by anyone? Not that it will give anyone more eyecandy right now but I guess that it could be a push for style developers to start porting their themes to qt4

i answered before, but it seems the mesasage wasn't saved - don't blame me if this posts twice.
imho there's no need on this, reason:
the style API didn't change a lot between qt3 and qt4, so to port the styles you'll simply have to fix the includes and then run the compiler to check whether you used outdated functions when directly accessing the painting widgets.

But GTK side should be. After upgrading to GTK+ 2.8, I'm getting black menu background in GTK apps (Gimp).

 Where's Oxygen?

On the Appeal website they say it "will be presented at aKademy 2005", which is long over. When will the rest of us get to see it?

Well, according to Aaron Seigo's interview on TLLTS, you won't see anything until KDE 4 comes out. There won't be any preview so that Oxygen doesn't look like "last year news" when it will be available for users.

In other words, "they" want us to say "Wow! Cool new stuff!" and not "Already seen before!".

I'm as curious as you because I didn't fell in love with what I saw on the "4-icon preview" that was floating somewhere on the web --I especially didn't like the folder-- and I wanted to see how it'd evolve. But now I know that all we can do is sit on our hands until everything is ready.

 Remond Options

by eriol on: Sep 17 2005

Some options for the Ksplash Redmond engine are not documented.I discovered these options to work :
Action Text Color=#xxxxxx
Username Text Color=#xxxxxx
(didn't try with Welcome Text Color)

but they are not documented on this page http://docs.kde.org/development/en/kdebase/ksplashml/theme-engines.html
That's a shame ! Could somebody fix it ?

I need to know how to set which fonts to use and to set their size. Does anybody knows if such options exist ?

Hi all,
is it possible to make any setting in built-in CDE style to auto-rollout submenu items when mouse is over (as in other styles, like classic-kde etc...). I can't find any setting for that.

Thanks for any help

 Icons wanted for $

Score 50%

Our company wants to revise the icons within our own commercial software product. We need up to 100 different 16x16 icons and will pay for their design.

If you have the time, skills and interest in designing a family of icons for us, please email me details of your experience, and I'll send back more info on the requirements.

Matt.

Hi Matt,
I would be happy to work with you. My name is Robert Wadley. My credits include OpenOffice 2.0 (the KDE style icons where done by myself and another artist) http://artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/~kendy/ooo/icons/status/
and the new icons for KMyMoney (See the screenshots on the KMyMoney website http://kmymoney2.sourceforge.net/index-home.html ). I have also done some KDE Icons and some Gnome style icons. I have the time, the skills, the experience, and interest.

 Kde-improvements

by overcast on: Nov 6 2005

I m KDE user since version 2,and i experienced how much feature rich KDE is than other desktop managers.Only thing I and most of the KDE users i talked with is Window decorations set.KDE have very poor set of window decoration set,in comparison with gnome or MS or MAC OS X.(E.g.Openlook,Kstep,web,BII,kde1,kde2,system++ etc.)These window decorations may sound good for some group of peoples but for others they are poor, sluggish designs.
I can understand KDE is revamping itself with new desktop project Plasma.Currently many developers are working on it, i think such great project must have priority for the window decoration area.As KDE is open source project to improve itself over other dekstop managers, needs to think on small aspects like this one. This applies to gnome or any other open source window manager also.

Intention of my post is besides bugs or usability problem What you see in KDE?What features you want to see in it?etc.
We can't be positive with ourselves all the time."Because finding faults in ourselves will allow us to improve and with improvement we can reach stars and without it we can't."So for the improvement of the window manager community we have to rate it.
Sometimes i think our developer friends can create their own set of window decorations.rich and cool like Mac os x.

If you have more ideas or errors to point,Bring them on.
Let's see what all of you think about it.

write one? gimp one for icewm? mockup one?.

btw, i'd say the "window decorations" for OS X are all quite equal as they're usually pixmap decos (by talented artists - yes, but still limited in the shape of the underlying engine - correct me and maybe paste a link in case i'm wrong)

the applet handles are drawn by the style and afaik plastik does not load images at runtime, so you'll have to edit the code

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
