 abount content types

If I create an application based entirely on Kommander scripts am I restricted to add it to kde-apps site under "Kommander Scripts" content category?

I think it would be more suitable to add it to the content category which fits it's real purpose and just use the "depends on Kommander" field to inform the users. :)

 More Project support

by bastl on: Apr 16 2007

I figured out with someone of a Project, that it is very difficult to get help from other Programmers.
So here my examples to make this better:
- Support a membership of a project, that every member of KDE-App can write his self into a project and become a member of that project and a button on the project page "members of this project" that shows those members.

- Support a file exchange to a project, that every member of that project can do changes and can make them public to that project. OK then 750KB is a little too less for a project.

Any other hints?

 KDE Style's Tutorial

by panchoLopez on: Apr 27 2007

Hello,

I just joined this forum looking for a tutorial to learn how to create kde styles. Does anybody know of a good one?

I'm a spy-movies junkie, so I want to make a style that resembles the ones used by spies in movies like 'Mission Impossible', James Bond films, etc.

I consider myself a fairly-good c/c++ developer but I've never really gotten into coding kde styles so any help is greatly appreciated.

By the way, Im not very good at graphic design, so if anybody wants to throw some ideas on how this style should look I would love to try them out.

Hope to hear from anybody soon, he, he...

KDE styles are just Qt styles, with some extra fiddly bits. KDE can use regular Qt styles, so that's the best place to start. Look at the Qt QStyle documentation. You should know about Qt painting first, or you'll quickly get lost. Unfortunately, the QStyle documentation is rather scant. So you need to look at some actual style source code to figure out everything that's going on.

Also, be aware that Qt/KDE 3 styles are different from Qt/KDE 4 styles.

 KDM Theme buttons

Can anyone tell me how to get the 'Session type' menu back on to the main system menu (it is like this in the default Kubuntu KDM theme, but if I remove the session button, it tells me it can't parse it)?

Also, can I take the shutdown option out separately? I've tried using the shutdown buttons in the documentation, but nothing happens - having had a fiddle, I think the shutdown commands it uses will be ignored unless one is root.

Thanks

 Issue With KDE

 by username132 on: May 15 2007

There is an issue with using KDE 'Configure Desktop' to fetch new wallpapers from this website, arising from the fact that some (not many) people link to their webpage instead of directly to an image. This causes KDE to download an HTML file instead of the wallpaper. It took me a while to figure out what was happening and don't know whether this "bug" should be reported to KDE-look.org or to the KDE developers. My thread (started when I still didn't know what was going on) is available here: http://www.suseforums.net/index.php?showtopic=35064
My suggestion is that either this website or the KDE developers screen the download/payload links and only allow direct links to image files. Can you dig it?

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
