Don't forget non-Linux systems in your list. Sometimes it's a pain seeing penguins all over your nice clean FreeBSD desktop :-)

So very true :) Would you be willing to help with making the list for that? I think the KDE CWS ( http://kde.ground.cz/ ) might be a good place for publishing the results of this (I will thusly begin by doing a list of Mandrake icons, though I would very much like for Mandrake to help me with it, maybe e-mailing them with the list once I am done with it? *writes note to self*).

Actually, looking at the stock KDE 3.2 icons, there's nothing distro specific. At least not from kdelibs or kdebase. I think what people are seeing are icons packaged up with KDE by their respective distros.

KDE has gotten a lot better in the linux-centric front. The only thing slightly problematic is the samba.png icon, which has Tux on it, even though Samba is not Linux specific.

I know... The standard KDE sets don't actually include them, but if we wish icon sets to be complete accross distributions, we should make icons for them, in stead of them making their own, so we're sure they look the way we want. Also, in this list, icons that are specific to one distrobution will be listed with the distro name after it (go have a look, I've started (though slowly)). :)

Does anyone have a pointer to how to learn to create pixmap styles like those created by ThEOnE (http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=8520, http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=8551)?

 Not possible?

Im assumeing since none of the OSX (i belives its name is acqua but am not sure so ill just refer to it as the OSX style theme) clone windecs have this feature its not possible due to current contrants.

How the X + - in the top corner fades in and out when you are with a certain range of the controls? No current windecs current do this, and is really whats preventing me from trying out an OSX like desktop.

I bellive I've now tried every OSX theme and have yet to see this feature, if there is one ive missed please let me know!

It's possible. Plastik does it, but it doesn't fade out, just fades between two states.

Yeah, a lot of the OSX themes do this, but not untill the curser is actually over the button you want to press. In OSX all the buttons would fade in as you get closer to them with the mouse.

The comments engine seems to be broken, so im replying to the plastik reply by my original message. When clicking the "x replys" link it takes you over to global discussion instead of to the right level od developer discussion.

Anyway... Yes plastik kind of does this, as well as all the OSX styled themes, and quite a few other. The problem is this isnt the behavior im looking for, they all begin the animation *after* you mouse over it. In OSX they begin fading in before you get to it.

Heres why, you dont need the icon of what the button is unti you goto use it, generally your eyes follow the mouse and you can guide it to the correct position, in OSX the fade in as you get to them so you can see each button before your covering it, with the current windecs your already covering the x + - when they fade in, and most dont even fade in they just jump in.

Many windecs use a fade, plastic, glow to name a few, but is it possible for them to begin fading *before* the mouse gets to them, just when its within a certain range. Think of each buttons center point, when the mouse gets within x pixels fade in so that were fully here before the mouse gets to it.

.. could you build a nice Linux Wallpaper with text "LINUX" and "open source" and "freedom" and a pic from tux. I could'nt find something like that.
There are many wallpapers with "KDE" but only very less with "LINUX".
:-(
And a nice background. Something like light and liquid and noble.
please LINUX wallpapers!

Or can you give me an hint, where i can find?

Well, what more specifically do you want. From that description you could do it yourself (the GIMP isn't that difficult to use).

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
