İt is not what i want, what i want is to scroll by pressing and dragging anwyhere in scrollbar area, just like we did with scrolling holder. More clearly i will cancel the scrolling holder and add an indicator instead of it. The scrollbar will completely dragable.

I think what Suayb meant was that you should be able to scroll by draging anywhere in the scrollbar.

The middle click function is great though, thanks for the tip!

 Mousewheel?

by Yaba on: Jun 1 2010

Why not just use the mousewheel, like it is implemented today?

How do you want to scroll a large dokument to the bottom, when the thumb is at the beginning, but you start to drag from somewhere at the bottom?

I see no advantage here.

When you open a large size web page you must use scrollbar(at least i) and i'm not comfortable with finding the scrolling holder. I also working on it, it will be probably a qt patch, so you haven't to use it if you not like it ;)

Especially in this case: How do you want to scroll to the end and beginning of the dokument when you do not start to drag at the thumb position?

When you click the scrollbar area mouse cursor will be hidden. Even if you reach the end of the scroll area scrolling will continue.

X won't send mouse events after you reach the bottom
try moving your browser to cross the bottom edge, open a page an try to drag the scrollbar across the screen. won't work.
in worst case you'll switch the virtual desktop.

what you want to do is to warp the mouse to the center of the handle when clicking somewhere on the scrollbar.

this will require a modifier key (as there's a functionality in the "empty" areas) and also mousewarping is considered to be evil (most confusing on esp. any touch/pen devices)

i'd not hope to get such patch into Qt...

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
