Plasmoid Binary

Score 63%
Minimum required   KDE 4.x
Downloads:  582
Submitted:  Feb 14 2009

Description:

This are some plasmoids compiled and packaged for Intrepid KDE 4.2 from kubuntu-experimental PPA.

Included are PanelSpacer, iHateTheCashew and Network-Manager. First two are compiled from kde-look.org, the third is from jaunty source.

Just unpack plasmoids.tar.gz and install the debs using gdebi (by clicking) or using dpkg from a konsole.

 Jaunty plasmoids and Intrepid

by srog on: Feb 15 2009

It was possible to use the Kubuntu Jaunty (KDE 4.2) plasmoids with the Intrepid (KDE 4.2): http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?topic=3101034.0

Maybe (?) it is still...

I haven't tried it lately, but it was possible in 4.1... but sometimes plasma choked when using those plasmoids (crashed), and I found it was better to recompile them.

I think in general a better idea, because some libraries aren't the same in jaunty and intrepid.

But anyway, you are free to try, just consider removing them if plasma starts to misbehave.

 nm plasmoid PEAP doesn't work!

Thanks for posting this for intrepid! Sadly, the plasmoid seems to suffer the same problem that knetworkmanager does - it connects to a WEP network just fine, but fails when trying to connect to PEAP.

 Jaunty plasmoids no more

Since Jaunty has switched to Qt4.5, jaunty plasmoids can't be used in intrepid anymore.

I'll compile and package them again for KDE4.2.1, available in kubuntu backports, and upload them later.

Thanks for compiling these Plasmoids.
I can't use Jaunty due to an extremly slow X.org-System so for me this is very, very useful!

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
