 An honest question..

I have an honest question: which versions of the 3.* series of KDE is this service menu for? Reason I'm asking this is that the function that this service menu provides is already a default feature of the 3.5 Branch of KDE. Of course, maybe older versions of the 3.* branch did not have this function by default.

Admittedly, I found it by accident. For example, if I select some files and directories and do as follows:
1. Click on the menu item "Copy"
2. Then you can paste the result to the text editor or word processor of your choice.

Also, one can select files and directories and push the standard keyboard shortcut for "Copy": "Ctrl | C" Then paste the result as desired. Just like anything else you copy in KDE, the result is now displayed in Klipper.

Again, this is a simple way to do it, but relatively non-intuitive, since the menu item just says "Copy"

In closing, I JUST figured out that you can also select a series of files and directories and paste them into another directory. In this case, all of the files and directories are actually copied to the directory that you are in when you click paste.

Have a Great Day,
Steven P. Ulrick

Hi
Well, I use KDE 3.5
You just need your klipper to be run and in the systray. And hope your dcop server is enabled.

Thank you, most useful. I often need this kind of thing! It was not in my KDE 3.55 also.

how to make this run in kde4

I used kde4-servicemenus to add this to kde4, and thoough most existing kde3 services menus worked this only shows under "actions -> utilities" but does not function. It' really a great utility and would be great to have again.

thanks,

I found a work around - use the kde3 klipper instead of the kde4 version. Needed because the code uses dcop, a kde3 utility, which can't interface (?) with kde4 apps.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
