Description:

Emerging plasmoid displays information about the ongoing gentoo install process through emerge using progress bars.

It displays information about the current building package, its ETA and percentage of completion. It does also display information about the total build process, how many packages are installed out of a total and a percentage of completion.

It uses an modified version of genlop as its backend (http://gentoo-portage.com/app-portage/genlop) to process the emerge log.

Install information in its README

Please note that you need perl installed (the same dependencies that genlop have. having genlop installed and running might help).

emerging-plasmoid is on the main portage tree, you can type 'emerge genlop emerging-plasmoid' to install it.

Known bugs:
Plasmoid goes crazy when two emerge commands are running at the same time, might crash plasma.

Changelog:

1.0.3
2014, Apr, 09 - I haven't noticed before, but emerging-plasmoid is on the portage tree. You can emerge it by typing 'emerge genlop emerging-plasmoid' as root.

1.0.2
2011 Dec, 08 - 656e979 - Fixing crash when emerging an package with unknown merge information

1.0.1
2011 Dec, 07 - 8942d09 - Setting ignore aspect ratio on resize

I uploaded it again here: http://pastebin.com/fenD7dYE

Ebuild works, but plasmoid does not. However, genlop -c also does not work on my system.

Probably that is the problem - do you know why genlop -c doesn't work on your system? What of genlop works there?

I've registered a bug for it: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=507196

As a workaround until the ebuild is fixzed, you can install either genlop to install its dependencies or dev-perl/DateManip.

DateManip alone was insufficient, but genlop did the trick. Thanks.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
