 Why not a kipi plug?

by noop on: Mar 26 2006

From trying out koppermine, I gather that it tries to achieve the same purpose as the kipi GalleryExport plugin, except for Coppermine instead of Gallery.

Instead of putting the time and effort to develop a standalone application, why not develop a kipi export plugin instead ? It will have several advantages:
- Integrates with everything that supports kipi, especially the excellent photo management suite Digikam, which offers more features then koppermine can have.
- Less coding: no need to worry about stuff that external programs handles, such as getting at the images to be uploaded and providing meta-data (comments and such).
- Better chance to be included as part of the KDE application suite, especially if developed as part of the kipi-plugins collection in KDE's svn.

Kipi plugin is the next step.
This is for people like me who prefer standalone clients.

A kipi plugin for this to work with digiKam would be _PERFECT_ !!
Keep up the excellent work, and please keep the digikam/kipi plugin in mind for next release! Thanks!

Hey!
Thanks a lot. Yes, the functionality was less in Beta Release.
But now Koppermine is stable and with more functionalities.
Please checkout the latest Stable release.

Thanks

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
