I have a friend who's a Sudukos junkie. She's going to flip when she sees this.

You may actually help me convince her to become a Gnu Linux user (but she used Mac, so if she doesn't that's ok).

Thank you very much,

The Borg Queen

PS I love the intros for the difficulty levels! Funny!

This could be missing libs, or header files. Since your on Gentoo this is unlikely, otherwise nothing else would compile. It could be make being the problem ( Incompatible versions ). If you have Python try the bksys version.

yes, configure of the non-bksys version fails: checking for KDE... configure: error: in the prefix, you've chosen, are no KDE headers installed. This will fail. So, check this please and use another prefix! try: ./configure --prefix=`kde-config --prefix` that worx ;)

 Problem compiling

Here is another error, this time in the make section:

kudus.cpp:31:28: kstdgameaction.h: No such file or directory
kudus.cpp: In member function `void Kudus::setupActions()':
kudus.cpp:222: error: `KStdGameAction' undeclared (first use this function)
kudus.cpp:222: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once for
each function it appears in.)
kudus.cpp:222: error: parse error before `::' token
kudus.cpp:231: error: parse error before `::' token
make[2]: *** [kudus.o] Error 1

make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/rui/software/kudus-0.2'
make: *** [all] Error 2

It seems you have to get your act together if make breaks horribly after passing all sanity checks provided by the configure script.

Solved that problem. It seems kudos needs libkdegames and I didn't have it installed. Why wasn't it checked with the configure script?

I was able to install kudos and ran it. It seems I wasn't able to write down numbers in the sudoku game I created. I could only write down "penciled" notes. Is this a bug or a feature? There isn't a help file to check, which makes it impossible to check out.

Well, the final account is that kudos sucks and it sucks a lot. It is in the 0.2 stage but if someone releases an app in kde-apps, that person should at least guarantee that the app will run and it isn't some beta test. Having this in mind, although a sudoku game is a nice idea, this one is sucking to the high heavens right now.

Basically them boxes are text edit boxes, So if you can't type into them then something is very wrong. Since there standard widgets. You just click on them. and you can use the cursor keys to move around ( or the standard keys tab. return etc.. ) or click on another box with the mouse. The way the pencilling works is that if theres more than one number entered into the box, it shrinks the text and changes the colour, If you delete the multiple numbers back to one number it returns the text to full size and black. So I'm confused by the fact that you can pencil in numbers but not delete them. Since your the only one who has reported this problem, some more details would be helpful in tracking down what's going on. Theres no help docs at the moment becuase I'm still working on improving the generator, and expanding some of the basic features. I'm sorry I forgot that libkdegames isn't in the standard lib set, So I'll have to add that to the configure script. Now just a hint, be polite. It isn't hard and it doesn't cost you anything. If you have a problem provide details so I can fix it. Just screaming it "sucks" isn't very useful, and makes you look like a troll.

I pinpointed the bug. What happens is that the number is indeed written but after pressing the button, the cursos moves forward, which pushes the number to the left and therefore hides it. The number is shown again if the cursor is in the textbox and the left key is pressed.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
