Description:

As part of a university assignment we have designed a new interface for KCall. We have posted a prototype of KCall using our new interface which you may test and try.
Remember it's still a prototype, and not all functionality is implemented yet. During the design phases we have also received numerous suggestions and feature requests which we believed were very useful though we did not have the time yet to implement all of them yet. Please be patient as more functionality will be made available.
We will try to integrate our results back into KCall as good as possible.

Thanks,

Arend van Beelen and Thijs Vermeulen.
University of Leiden, Netherlands.

KCall Homepage: http://www.basyskom.de/index.pl/kcall

WHAT SHOULD WORK:
- Outgoing and incoming calls.
- Caller ID recognition.
- Address book integration.
- Most of the interface.

WHAT DOESN'T WORK:
- Actual sound during a call (at least I wasn't able to get it to work, using SUSE 10, hopefully someone can report better experiences).
- Transfers.
- Call List / History.
- Be prepared for plenty of bugs.

Changelog:

- Added Final Paper
- Added Prototype

I think the Delete contact button:
X Contact
V Contact

is misplaced; it should either stay in the main toolbar or be located just below the main list of contacts.

Its not clear how the Numpad is got to, but the overall layout is very nice... what is that, a dash or underline beneath the 0 key?

A customizable image for the contact is very nice, even nicer if it could be shared that is I may want to transmit my image with my contact info to someone else?

The X cq. V button you mention is not related to the Contact. It actually is the button for showing/hiding the Numpad panel. Hopefully this is more clear when the interface is actually being used.

btw, the line under the 0 is an underscore, but actually represents a space. Hopefully we can make that more clear somehow...

The patch is against the current Subversion checkout of KCall. We didn't put time in creating real packages as it's still a non-functional prototype anyway.

Arend jr.

Please make sure that "Transfer Call" and "Blind Transfer" get different icons.

We know, we know... the current icons are just placeholders.

 Error/status output

It would be nice if you could add a textbox or something similiar, which could be hidden or not, and would display useful information that would help find the causes of problems with calls.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
