Description:

This is a GUI wrapper for the pacman package manager of Arch Linux.
It is my very first Kommander script; but it does the job pretty well. Use it to install, upgrade, search, remove, query packages (local or repository) as well as synchronize database, upgrade system and clear file cache.

PacKommander has been developed much further in version 2.5, with many, many more features to offer! It is now a sourceforge.net project. Further info and download location for new version are available from project home page at http://packommander.sourceforge.net/

 Some critics

The GUI and layout is not the best, and kinda confusing. You should imprve it.

Indeed, it's a very good initiative to make a such program.

Keep on working :)

Yes....the GUI layout was indeed a bit quirky! I'v tried to improve on the interface, but layout design in Kommander seems to be a real pain in the a**!! :P
The current version is 2.5, with lotsa more features. Details and downloads can be had from the project home page : http://packommander.sourceforge.net/

Thank you for your interest in my project! Cheers!

The GUI layout is from Qt Designer, which I never heard anything bad about and which is vastly preferable to defining it in text or just guessing how it should look like Kapatain did. You could actually go to htto://kommander.kdewebdev.org and look at some of the articles explaining how to do layout, or reference the Designer docs or articles.

Kommander makes application design accessible to the average person... GUI design still takes some education. Don't blame the application when it empowers you to do whatever you want with GUI layout.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
