Submitted:  Apr 29 2009
Updated:  Sep 7 2009

Description:

QtCosmos is an application for sending fast SMS via greek mobile provider's COSMOTE(tm) mycosmos service.

I stopped working on qtcosmos. New versions can be found as kde4 plasmoid at:
http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/mykosmos+plasmoid?content=111594

To make an account:
- Send a free SMS (via your COSMOTE(tm) phone) to 54000 with "E" as text. You will receive a password.
- Get in http://www.mycosmos.gr and change your random password with one of your preference.

Now you can use qtcosmos. How to use it:
- Excecute the program. (python and python-qt4 packets required and should already be if using KDE4)
- Click "Accounts..." and "Add" on accounts list.
- Use your mobile number as account (69xxxxxxxx). [10 digits]
- Type your password. (Have known that it is not a safe place to store passwords while anybody having access to your computer can see it.)

Now you can send 10 SMS for free per day for every account have passed in qtcosmos.

Capabilities:
- Usage of kaddressbook contacts. Phones of kaddressbook will be loaded if saved as Mobile Phones. Valid phones are in this format (69xxxxxxxxx ή 00xx..xx)
e.g. 6971234567 or 00306971234567
- Send SMS to one or more contacts by typing a list of numbers or phonebook contact names with ; among them.
e.g. "kostas; 6971234567; ... ; yiannis"
- Send larger than 140 character messages by spliting the text to as many SMS as required
e.g. a double SMS (150 characters) will be sent as two 140 + 10 characters and the account will have -2 free SMS left.
- Send more than 10 messages per day by adding more than one accounts.

NOTE1: Please use only owned accounts.
NOTE2: If message limit reached (10/account), next message will never be send unless you have more than 1 accounts, and you will never be charged.

Changelog:

v0.6
~~~
GUI fixes as 1:button sizes, 2:account's passwords shown in asterisks format.
Using of kaddressbook contacts instead of internal phonelist. [Users prefering old internal phonelist please use v0.51]
NOTE: Remove old ~/.qtcosmosrc before using version 0.6.
Hi! Just follow mycosmos' instructions at:
http://mail.mycosmos.gr/mycosmos/FAQ/MyCosmos_faqs_en.htm
(or http://mail.mycosmos.gr/mycosmos/FAQ/MyCosmos_faqs_gr.htm for greek).
A fast guide is the following:
1) Send the "E" SMS at 54000 from your mobile.
2) You 'll get an SMS with your password.
3) Get in http://www.mycosmos.gr using your number (69xxx) as username and the given password.
4) Click at Settings -> Modify password and set one of your choice.
5) Put these at QtCosmos and start sending.
Hope was clear. Thank you!
Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
 It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
 Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
 Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
 Gnome 3 default shell is much better
 I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
 None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
