Simple NVidia Info v2

   2.0.1

Plasmoid Script

Blog:  Link
Minimum required   KDE 4.x
Downloads:  495
Submitted:  Dec 18 2011
Updated:  Dec 28 2011

Description:

This is version 2 for the Simple NVidia Info plasmoid. I added an analog meter and the temperature is displayed with nice big fonts.

It is completely rewritten in Ruby and thus it DEPENDS ON RUBY SCRIPT ENGINE. Unfortunately there is no Ruby dependency for plasmoid script when uploading one, so I can\'t select it.

If you want the old version, it is still available at:
http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Simple+NVidia+Info?content=136720

If there are any errors querying nvidia-settings it should gracefully fail, showing \'0\' for the unknown parameter. If it does not, please comment or send me an email.

Known Issues:
- sometimes the 'degree symbol' between the temperature and 'C' transforms into '?'. I don't know yet why.

Changelog:

Version 2.0.1
- made text size (font) smaller

Version 2.0.0
- initial release in Ruby
- compared to latest version 1.x it contains an analog meter and big label for temperature

 Layout

I have a 22" screen 1680*1050
The Temperature organ and value covers the card model. Not very important just for information:

Hmm ... the problem is, that the text is too long and does not fit in one line. I will make the font smaller a little bit and post an update soon.

Thank you for the feedback!

I have a 22" monitor set to 1920x1080. I have found 2 issues: the font is huge and the C grad turns into a ? symbol.

See it here http://dl.dropbox.com/u/23918957/nvidia2_plasmoid.png

Btw, I forgot to mention: thanks for sharing your work. I love the v1 plasmoid and if you manage to release a new version with the font issues solve will definitely use it!

Updated, made text smaller, I wanted to add a configuration dialog, but I don't have the time right now.

I do not know, yet, why the degree symbol changes into '?'. It is a knows issue, but I have no idea why it happens.

The °C is not a constant problem. For example, on my computer I can see °C for hours, then suddenly it changes to ?C than after some time it comes back to °C. Unfortunately I can not MAKE IT look ?C. Whenever I start the plasmoid in plasmoidviewer I see °C correctly and I found no way to reproduce the ?C behavior except putting it on my desktop and waiting for it to magically change.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
