StreamTuned plays and records audio and video streams using mplayer as backend. It can parse stream url's and related information from playlists, webpages or XML/RSS feeds. Streamtuned can act as Podcast client and allows for local and remote (weservice) access to the repositories containing your stream url's.

 new features

To improve streamtuned, I can use your feedback. If you use(d) streamtuned, you probably can tell:
- what's bad about it
- which features are missing
- what you didn't understand/couldn't find in the README file
- other things you think are relevant

Features I planned to work on are stream recording and OpenGL visualizations (to replace the basic spectrum display). Good choice or not?

Eric.

Tried compiling on SuSE 9.0 but no luck. Although I've got fftw, fftw3, fftw3-devel, fftw-devel,etc (all fftw packages for SuSE via apt) I still get the error:

/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i586-suse-linux/3.3.2/../../../../i586-suse-linux/bin/ld: cannot find -lfftw
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[1]: *** [streamtuned] Error 1

Not sure what I can do to get around this, StreamTuned looks like an excellent app, I'd love to get it working.

Thanks

Streamtuned uses fftw2, not fftw3.
You'll need both fftw-devel and fftw packages (on Suse 9.0: fftw-devel-2.1.3-921.i586.rpm and fftw-2.1.3-921.i586.rpm).

fftw-devel gives you the header files in /usr/include and some symlinks to fftw libraries.
The *actual* fftw libraries (wich ld needs) are included in the fftw package. So youre probably missing this one.

Assuming you broke some dependencies, I suggest you deinstall all fftw packages without dependancies to other packages on your system, and then (re)install fftw and fftw-devel.

If this doesn't work please send a stdout of make install and locate fftw to my mail address.

Eric.

Forgot: if you have fftw-devel and fftw on your system it might be possible the fftw-devel symlinks weren't created.

If you reinstall (as suggested before), be sure to install fftw first. Then install fftw-devel. Do not rely on your packaging tool to resolve dependencies this time.

Eric.

 Suse compile problem

by streamtuned on: Sep 11 2004

Message "cannot find -lfftw" from the compiler on a Suse system:

Suse uses double precision fftw (dfftw, not fftw). Streamtuned cannot use dfftw instead of fftw. You should make fftw available on your system by compiling fftw from source.

You can download fftw (version 2.1.5) from http://www.fftw.org/download.html

Eric

Very Cool application.
Let me be a "blond tester" in the first 30 minuttes of use og this app.
I think you could improve on the UI on regards adding streams and storages. It's a bit confusing at the moment. The applies too to adding storages - i understood that adding af page like http://www.rdp.pt/geral/destaques/pagina-radiodirecto.htm
would generate a list of streams but i never got it to work. If it shouldnt work maybe this is a good idea? :-)
I got a problem adding mms://acise4.elvas.net:80/R%C3%A1dio Elvas - never heard anything at all. Adding the link in mplayer (kmplayer) resulted in sound (actually noise since this channel is not properly configured).
May i suggest an ordinary playlist in order to select stations, with the capbility to use the mouse (like xmms list or whatever).
Would be nice to be able to export stationlist to html/txt file - probably allready does this but i didnt figure it out.

Thank you.

Indeed, the configuration window does need some work. It is already planned but will take some time: the MythTV plugin on my site (mythstream) uses the streamtuned code and this poses some constraints. Especially on configuration module changes.

Your url representing a list of streams should be added as a stream item and not as web storage, wich is a specific "service". When added as stream, your url will be automatically picked up by the "harvester" when you try to start it. The harvester will then display all url's found on your url. Such behaviour works in the background when starting ram, rm, pls streams, wich are just url's returning a list of 1 or more actual stream urls.

My DNS cannot resolve acise4.elvas.net. So I connot test the stream you have problems with. But while testing I also had playing problems with the streams in your stream list url (on www.rdp.pt, nicely rendered b.t.w.). Manual checking revealed that http requests returned 404's, and that stream related ports 1755, 554, 7070 did not respond. If these are actually functioning streams I'm missing something (a port I forgot?).

The presentation of streams in a xmms-like playlist is a great idea. Maybe the configuration module must provide this functionallity. This module then presents streams in a playlist, allowing editing of streams and storages in small popup windows.

Eric.

 Record MP3 streams?

by Remenic on: Apr 11 2004

Hi,

This program looks very interesting. Can it record MP3 streams to the harddisk? With each song a seperate file ofcourse (like streamripper does).

If so, then I'll be sure to check this out!

Yes, it can record mp3 streams to harddisk. But no, not on a per-song basis. StreamTuned doesn't provide stream format specific functionality.

You *can* process streamtuned recordings with tools like mencoder. But I guess for ripping, using a dedicated application like streamripper is a better choice.

Eric.

The "Shoutcast" playlist parsing had to be ICEcast playlist parsing. Oops. It is possible to parse shoutcast.com (html) playlist information in streamtuned, but this script is not included in the tarball. The release is updated. Glad you asked, thanks.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
