Description:

I liked the idea of KSmoothDock, especially on my laptop, where space is sometimes at a premium, but I'm not convinced by the idea of replacing the entire panel. So I thought I'd have a go at producing something similar, that worked as part of Kicker.

Changelog:

v 0.1: First cut; only works with panel at top of screen.

v 0.2: I've fixed the clipping of the text and added a shaded hemisphere behind the icons to improve the clarity. Still only works at the top of the screen; I'll work on making it work in the other panel locations next.

v 0.3: I've now made it work it all panel positions and fixed an intermittent crash.

 Nice Concept

Nice idea/app

I've built taskswitch and found...

1 doesn't work at the bottom.
2 fonts are crunched. I can't see the entire thing.

I'm looking forward to see this one develop. If you need help in testing, please visit #arklinux on freenode. I and the others would be very happy to help.

Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback. You know those "minor display glitches" I mentioned... you've found them! Hopefully I'll have time to fix them in the next few days.

The two of you should work together.
Don't make me put you both in the box!

Hi pinkworm. I've just had a look at SpinAndLaunch. They're not doing the same thing; they're complimentary :-)

If I've understood correctly from my quick play with it, SpinAndLaunch is an alternative way of launching new instances of applications. TaskSwitch is a way of switching between already running instances.

I really like the translucent background you've got there: I think that might be something I ought to imitate - sincerest form of flattery and so forth!

Thanks ! ;)
Actually i haven't tried your software, just 've seen the circular thing with icons ;)
Some (Italian) guy emailed me the "liquid weather"-like background,
it is really nice.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
