Plasmoid Script

A Plasmoid widget written in Python that displays a web page on your desktop. Unlike the web browser applet, Web Fetch keeps an (text-only) offline copy of the web page and displays the copy when Internet connection is not present. The offline copy is synced with the actual web page periodically.

If Internet is available, the Plasmoid can load hyperlinks and perform many other functions expected of a regular web browser.

Basically written to scratch the itch of the default web browser applet being miserable without Internet :P

This is my first Plasmoid and Python work, so please be patient if things don't work well :) If you like you can notify me about issues here and I'll see what I can do.

Quite useful!

I am not out to destroy Microsoft. That will be just an completely unintentional sideeffect. (Linus Torvalds)

 Need cool stuff

Like selecting and cutting up only needed parts of page, for example,
as css selectors, or xpath
or maybe some target cursor and higlighting on real HTML page ;)

it will be great to view only those blocks - that are not ads, flash, only useful content of page...

Thanks for the suggestion :) I'll set about polishing it when I have the time.

Is there a way to expand this

This is a very useful tool, it'd be great if I could stretch it out and make it take the whole desktop area

Hi !

I'm really using your plasmoid.

But it didnt work when I tried to get the URL:

I look at code and self.site and self.get seems to be correct.

Its just me ?

Kubuntu 9.10 in notebook Dell M65.

Nice job, again.

This would be awesome if you could adjust the background color on it. Other than that it's great!

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
