Xgl Binaries for AMD-Athlon-XP optimized

   CVS

KDE Other Software

Score 63%
Downloads:  1360
Submitted:  Apr 8 2006

Description:

This is Xgl compiled for AMD Athlon XP processord with optimize level 4. untar it into your root and it will be installed in /opt/Xgl. use this script to execute KDE from a minimal session, preferable without any windowmanager running (called 'failsafe' in KDM):

#!/bin/sh

/opt/Xgl/bin/Xgl :1 -ac -fullscreen -accel glx:pbuffer -accel xv:pbuffer&
usleep 500000
DISPLAY=:1 /opt/Xgl/bin/compiz decoration wobbly fade minimize cube rotate zoom scale move resize place switcher water&
usleep 500000
DISPLAY=:1 /opt/Xgl/bin/gnome-window-decorator&
usleep 500000
DISPLAY=:1 /opt/kde3/bin/kdesktop&
usleep 1000000
DISPLAY=:1 /opt/kde3/bin/kicker&

works fine with my nVidia Card. this CVS snapshot is of yesterday. enjoy using it :)

Note: Your have to have Xorg 7.0 (6.9 may work, though not testet) and gtk+2.8 and cairo installed.

Optimize level 4? Heh, max is AFAIK 3... ;) If you set higher it will use -O3...

well, you seem to be right. Then the freedesktop.org are wrong:
http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software_2fXgl
$ export CFLAGS="-O4 -march=pentium-m -mtune=pentium-m -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -ffast-math"
$ export CXXFLAGS=$CFLAGS

perhaps gcc 4.x uses -O4 ...

actually it works on xorg 6.9 (Slackware) but performance is really low and kicker dont work well, there are glitches, superkaramba is not working etc.

overally its useless unfortunately (at least on xorg 6.9, maybe cvs works better) but thanks for this realese, i never managed to compile xgl heh

Slackware Current & KDE 3.5.2

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
 It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
 Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
 Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
 Gnome 3 default shell is much better
 I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
 None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
