 This Is a Good Idea

A good idea indeed. Ark is a fantastic compression tool. Problem is, it doesn't talk back. One has no idea of the length of time left to a given process.

Krusader uses progress bar during compress / decompress and archive testing. Maybe something could be drawn from that.

Krusader is a nice tool btw. Great for achiving.

afaik, there where technical reasons why we have no progress bar. something about the underlying tools (bzip etc) not being able to show their progress...

but feel free to offer help :D

thanks SuperStoned,
It never made any sense to me why there wasn't a progress dialog considering there's a progress dialog for just about everything.

A windows user friend of mine (yes, I have friends that use windows), said she really liked the way KDE communications.

It was always a mystery to me why ark didn't have such dialogs.

Hey KDE People, please add progress bar wherever there is a delay. You've added Progress dialog even for Mounting CDROMS!!! which are annoying though ;).

But this one is just fantastic.

Yes, this is a great idea. Also, we need a "working" progress bar for "Install new Icon Theme" as well. Currently, it shows the empty progress bar and then closes the window when completed. It has been pending for a rather long time, IMHO.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
