KDE Kommander Script

Kommander script to start, stop, restart DSL connection (ppp over ethernet), using tools "pon dsl-provider" and “poff dsl-provider". To use it you will need to have superuser privileges. It does not configure dsl connection, so you will have to setup it using tool "pppoeconf".

I created this script because there was no graphical way to control dsl connection in Kubuntu Dapper, and I needed it sometimes, since some dynamic IP's my wife would receive from our ISP would be blocked from my IRC network.

Would that kind of app be needed? If so, how do I improve it? Suggestions welcome!

2006-07-09 first public release, simple *.kmdr file and a *.deb

Could you please rewrite for pppoe? Like, pppoe-start, pppoe-stop, pppoe-connect, pppoe-setup...

Hi, by „update“ you mean that „adapt“ or, that what you are writing about is the new way of doing the same thing?

there is no „setup“ option in dslKonnector. You have to do setup your own way.

However, I no longer update this little utility since I don't have dsl connection any longer. If you know at least a little of Kommander, you could update/adapt the program yourself, and I will gladly pass this project to you. If you know nothing of Kommander, I could update/adapt the program, but I will only take trouble if there are more than one person using the program, and, if someone told me exactly what shell commands each button has to execute (I suspect you did that already, but I want to doublecheck). For I cannot test the program myself any longer.

I meant, could you rewrite it, so that the script, instead of "kdesu pon dsl-provider" command, uses "kdesu pppoe-start" or "sudo pppoe-start" commands, for people (like me) who use Roaring Penguin PPPoE client to connect to PPPoE service providers.

I could rewrite it (I know something about kommander), but I don't want to "take over" someone's project. If you are willing to give me permission to edit it, then I will gladly do it.

Go ahead (of course, if you leave the other option as well).

I could ask the admins to transfer this project to you. Would you like it? I am really not interested in working on this any longer, and would gladly pass it on to someone else fully. It is a free project, after all :)

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
