Description:

This Kommander script takes an AVI file, converts it to mpeg2 with ac3 audio and generates an .iso image ready for burning as it's ouput.

Although there are plenty of scripts out there for conversion of video and authoring, this one is designed to require as little user input as possible. Choose an input .avi, select the destination folder, give the project a name and choose NTSC or PAL. It then automates the full process of creating a dvd-video compatible image for playback on a stand-alone dvd player.

It has the following dependencies:

Mjpegtools 1.8.0
ffmpeg 0.4.9_pre1
transcode 1.0.2
Dvdauthor 0.6.11

The version numbers given above are what I have installed and it is working fine. You may be able to get this working ok with older versions.

Changelog:

V0.1 12th March 2006

* First version released

Minor update to package as released with debug info still visible originally.

Sure it's possible, but that will need second dialog with preferences (xml file for spumux). I am for that, it would be great! For author: Btw, spumux is part of DVD-Author package.

Let me have a look into that. I agree, subtitles will be needed. If I do add them, they will be as dvd subtitles not overlaid onto video.

OK, I've looked into this and it's fairly simple enough to add subtitles. I will need to make a small installation script to allow you to select a ttf font and copy this to your home directory so spumux can use it so please check back soon for an update.

Hi,
I tried it, and it generates zero-size iso files (but very fast :-). What could be the problem here?

I suspect there is a problem with transcode if it is not doing anything. Working on an update to test tools before burning and at least identify any problems.

 File support?

This program does AVI to DVD. However, is it feasible to do OGM to DVD with this program or is that an entire different thing. Most Windows programs are lame when it comes to the counterparts to ffmpeg and mencoder. Would be nice to see this little app support more than just AVI. I don't do multiple AVI files nor have a need for menus. Otherwise I'd use a different app. Yours fit the bill for the AVI to DVD with no menus. However, I've ocassionally run across an odd OGM file.

Is it possible to select final size and control if it didn't exceed it? And calculate final size before conversion would be really valuable.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
