 Problem in 4.5.2???

 by joth666 on: Oct 6 2010

Score 50%

Just upgraded to KDE 4.5.2. and for some reason this plasmoid shows a rather strange behavior it didn't in 4.5.1.

I have it running in a panel, and I have coverart assigned to every album in my collection. The plasmoid does show album-art but...

1. For the first song played after login, none is shown.
2. For the rest of the songs, it shows the cover-art for the previous song instead of the currently playing.
3. However, the correct album-art is shown within amarok itself as well as in the plasma-popups you get when the pointer hovers above the amarok tray-icon or the plasmoid. That is, the wrong art is _only_ shown in the panel. Nowhere else.
4. It is also a bit slower to detect a new song has started playing.

The only difference is that I'm now running KDE 4.5.2. It's the same version of Amarok (2.3.2.).

Any ideas of what could be wrong?

 Can't change fonts anymore?

For some reason I can't change the font of the artist and track name any more. Any idea why is that?

 v0.15 bisbehaving in KDE 4.6

 by ademmer1977 on: Dec 3 2010

Score 50%

I upgraded to KDE SC 4.6 Beta 1, and NowRocking plasmoid v0.15 does not function properly. When it shows up, it tells that Amarok is paused (while Amarok aktually is playing) and does not show the cover.

When Amarok is paused, the plasmoid tells that Amarok would be playing.

Something is mixed up here. Is this already known? Can somebody else with KDE SC 4.6 Beta 1 confirm this behaviour? Any plans to fix this?

0.16 works better in KDE 4.6. There seems to be some problems with state coming from now-playing engine (gives paused although playing etc.)

I've been playing around with this for a while now and I must say it mostly works.

1. The tooltip _sometimes_ shows stopped when it's actually playing and sometimes the stopped part is missing. I haven't been able to find a common theme to why and when the different behaviors are triggered though.
2. I noticed that you should stay away from the "Visible only when player active" option. If you check it, it's as if the plasmoid wasn't running at all. That is, it is always invisible and there's no way of bringing up the configuration interface. At least no way that I've noticed.
3. To continue from two, it is always running in "visible only when player active" mode. That is, as if I had checked that box in KDE 4.5.x. Which is no problem for me since that's how I like it to behave.
4. When the coverart is embedded within the file there is no coverart displayed although Amarok itself shows it without a problem (using Amarok 2.4beta and 4.6 RC2).

Other than that it works as I remember it to do, and those minor niggles are for me at least no show-stoppers. Even if it was great if they weren't there anyway :)

Same problem here since yesterday, when I upgraded to KDE 4.6 and Amarok 2.4. No album art, but I do see controls on top of the plasmoid.
Now Rocking was working great before upgrade (by the way, upgrade messed up several configurations in my laptop).
The strange thing is that I tried Now Rocking with Clementine (the new port of Amarok 1.4) and it shows album work. The problem is that when I grow the plasmoid to obtain a bigger image, it looses image resolution, which did not happen before upgrade with Amarok 2.3.
Now Rocking is a great plasmoid, hope you can fix these problems.

Did a small fix to album art. Not sure if it helps but I'll take a better look on this when I have more time.

How does this plasmoid retrieve the current cover art / title? Would be great if it would work with Tomahawk, but we "only" support MPRIS 2.1 currently.

In KDE 4.9 it causes the whole Plasma Desktop to crash... Hope one of my favourite plasmoids will work again :)

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
