Description:

Kraft is KDE-Software for people who operate a small business. Kraft helps to manage business communication documents like quotes and invoices.

Kraft is not specialized on a certain trade or craft.
Instead Kraft covers the practical issues of a small business and helps through ease of use yet powerful features to deal with most of the office jobs effectively.

Please read the homepage at http://www.volle-kraft-voraus.de for more details and downloads.

Changelog:

This is the changelog of the release of version 0.50 of Kraft, the KDE software for easy business document management.

The most important change is that now multiple tax rates are supported within one document. That means that within e.g. one invoice items without tax, with reduced or full tax rate are supported. The sum calculation takes that in consideration properly. That makes Kraft an even more multi purpose software.

Apart from that, a lot of bug fixes and improvements happened such as:

  • Addressees can be added to a document even if the document already exists, not only if the doc is created.

  • Documents display a page number on page two to end.

  • On insertion of a new item to a document, the new item is focussed automatically.

  • Manually added items can be added to the catalogue on entering again.

  • The document type configuration dialog was reworked.

  • The amount of processed SQL commands on setup is correct.

  • Document saving is more performant.

  • Improved error handling if Akonadi or the report generation fails to ease debugging.

  • Import of CSV-lists into the document was fixed.

  • MySQL database setup is fixed.

  • This release is a nice progress for Kraft and I hope you have fun and success with the new release.

     QT Version

    Hi!

Is it necessary to limit the max QT version at 4.0?

I currently have 4.3.0 installed under Kubuntu. Is it possible to compile against my current QT version?

    ~/download/kraft-0.20$ dpkg-query -W libqt4-core
    libqt4-core 4.3.0-4ubuntu1~feisty1

    Thanks!

Qt 4 is very different from Qt 3, which this version of Kraft is based on. In fact, it'll also need KDE 3 development files, that in turn will require Qt 3 anyway. If you are running kubuntu, try apt-get install kdelibs4-dev (this is actually kdelibs 3.5.something) and all requirements will come in too (i don't know whether Kraft does depend on more than kdelibs, but that should be good for now).

     trml2pdf problem

    Hello,

I have installed kraft on a slackware system and it looks really nice. But I have problems to generate pdf files. I have installed ReportLab_2_1.tgz and I am using the latest version of trml2pdf.tar.gz and I have python 2.4.

It looks like trml2pdf has problems with the trml files generated by kraft.

    parser.Parse(string, True)
    xml.parsers.expat.ExpatError: not well-formed (invalid token): line 17, column 87

When I use other rml files I have not such a problem and it generates a pdf file. Is it a problem in the kraft.trml file or a bug in trml2pdf?

Another problem I had with german umlaute in the MySQL database.
Really looking forward how this program develops. Great work!

    Thanks for trying Kraft!

I think your problem is caused by the first known bug in 0.22 - which is a wrong encoding setting in the rml template.

Please check if it works if you replace the encoding in the rml from iso8859 to utf-8. If it does, please also fix that in $KDE_DIR/share/apps/kraft/reports/invoice.trml.

Please followup on the mailinglist if required.

Thanks for the hint. It is related to encoding problems this I can confirm for sure now. But just changing it to utf-8 in the file does not fix it. After I removed all german umlaute and '&' from the trml file I could create the pdf with trml2pdf. After changing the invoice.trml file I tried to start with a new database, but the problem still exists that trml2pdf complains about every umlaut.
It sounds that the problem could already be fixed, so maybe I wait for the new release. Thank you very much so far!

I've been searching for some how to, but unsuccesfully.

I have some main ideas, and I think I have to create a database or something. Do you have a hand book or something to start using this program?

I'm using UBUNTU 8.04 in a x86 structure. Everything about the software is working out of the box and a haven't changed a thing about kernel or something...

have you tried to set up the correct language with the following command:

    kcmshell language

Note that the stable version of Kraft is still KDE3 based and thus needs the KDE3 language settings and kcm.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
     Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
