how do you install kaudiocreator?

Application: KAudioCreator - Sep 6 2010
answered
Question:Sorry for this basic newbie question, but I don't know how to install this program.

1. I tried from the command line:
sudo apt-get install kaudiocreator and this failed.
2. What do I do with svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/trunk/extragear/multimedia/kaudiocreator? What does this mean?

Answer:If you are using ubuntu you can take a look here:
https://launchpad.net/~blca/+archive/published

To build form sources:
unpack
create in the same directory a directory "build"
cd build
cmake "$1" -CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=$KDEDIR -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=debugfull
make
su -c "make install"

"svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/trunk/extragear/multimedia/kaudiocreator" is an address for a revision control system for sourcecode (not only but mainly used for code) called subversion. With that address you can "check out" the sourcecode of an application to compile it yourself. Instruction how to do it are usually given along with the address.

But for your question about how to install kaudiocreator. How to install the program if you don't want to compile it yourself depends on your distribution. From the apt-get I guess you are either on debian or ubuntu. No idea...maybe it's easier to use a graphical frontend for the package manager like aptitude or synaptic.

~/Downloads/kaudiocreator-1.3/build$ cmake "$1" -CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=$KDEDIR -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=debugfull
loading initial cache file MAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=
CMake Error: Error processing file:MAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=
CMake Error: The source directory "/home/me/Downloads/kaudiocreator-1.3/build" does not appear to contain CMakeLists.txt.
Specify --help for usage, or press the help button on the CMake GUI.

Kaudiocreator is now available from K/ubuntu, as part of kdemultimedia: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+search?text=kaudiocreator

No need to build from source unless you want to. The maintainer can be reached on kde-apps: http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/KAudioCreator?content=107645

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
