[2010-09-30[ BasKet 2.0 Beta 2 Released

BasKet 2.0 Beta 2 has been released by Matt Rogers. Go get it!

[2010-03-23] BasKet 2.0 Beta 1 Released

The BasKet project is proud to announce the release of version 2.0 beta 1. This version serves as a pre-release version for developers and distributors and should not be considered suitable for a production system. BasKet 2.0 will be a new major release which brings Qt4 and KDE 4 compatibility to BasKet and paves the way for future releases which take advantage of KDE 4 technologies such as Akonadi and Nepomuk. Due to the pervasive nature of these changes, there may be inevitable bugs in some features of the new release. However, the new version is in many ways more stable and robust than previous releases (especially when running on the KDE 4 platform) and users are recommended to switch to the new version when it comes out.

We hope to release version 2.0 within a few months.

Previous versions of BasKet, which depended on KDE 3 libraries, are now considered deprecated and will no longer be maintained.

 Developement status?

Does anyone know something about the current developement status?

The last news update on the basket website was from 2010-03-23.

Check it out:

I wonder, cause there is only one news entry about a 2.0 release.

"We hope to release version 2.0 within a few months."

Is there still any developement in progress?

 Great app!!!

Great app! Till recently I had both linux and windows on my laptop, mostly because I was using OneNote. BasKet Note Pads gave me the last reason to erase the Win partition and go 100% Linux. Yet, I have two suggestions to make:

- give the option to change the location of the baskets
- I would like to be able to link an item in a note to another basket (so that when I click on that element, I go automaticaly to that basket)

When I click on the indicated links I get the Beta 1 tarball. Also on the main website of Basket, I see the announcements of Beta 2, but the tarball can not be downloaded.

I hope the download link will be fixed soon, because this app is exactly what I'm missing in KDE4.

Ok, now, when the download link works again (maybe it was working all the time, the version numbers have confused me), I tested BasKet. At the moment the app is unusable. And that's why:

1. The translation (russian) made me facepalm. It contains such lines, as
"Головная корзина", "Не пользуетесь KDE как средой обитания" and "Автоматически замыкать корзину", not to mention the translation incompleteness and typos. It's sad.

2. Images obviously are treated wrong. Here is the screenshot:http://rghost.ru/2868442/image.png
They displayed normal only when I close BasKet and launch it again.

3. A lot of icons are missing (maybe because KDE4 porting is still incomplete).

4. (just whining) Who ever came up with the idea that a SINGLE CLICK should create a new note? It's driving me crazy >_<.

Si non confectus non reficiat.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
