 Download link etc

First of all thanks to everyone who replied.

The download link has been fixed, and as for the bugs that hybrid has noticed: The fixes are being worked on, and should be in CVS by the end of the week. For the next release I'm waiting till I've finished the KControlCenter module for it...

 Kleardock questions

by spideyrox on: Jan 13 2004

Hi, I'm relatively new to linux. I just found Kleardock the other day, and I have it working, but - I have to start it manually by double-clicking the kleardock executable. Then Kicker and Kleardock are both running, and if I kill Kicker, the kicker menu on Kleardock no longer works. Can anyone help me get it set up corretly so that Kleardock replaces Kicker (and works)? I followed the instructions on the site, and am still having the same problem...

I'm running RH9, and am totally in love with Kleardock. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

In your $HOME their is a Autostart folder located at ~/.kde/Autostart (you won't see it in konq as .folders are hidden). Just put a link in it to kleardock. In the console, just type: "cd ~/.kde/Autostart;ln -s `which kleardock`;" (without the ") and it should work. If you want more tips, their are some on the web page.

I am also having the problem with the Kmenu not working when I hide the kicker. I had everthing setup in my autostart menu to hide the kicker an start kleardock but the kmenu does not work in this configuration, only when the kicker is present. I have searched all over the place trying to find information about a command line for the kmenu in Kleardock that will not require the kicker to be present, but have had no luck. If anyone has this info could you either share this or point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.

 blinking

Ksmoothdock does work and is fun to play with, but there are still very annoying visual oddities :
* when the mouse enters in the bar zone from the top, it grows a lot for 1/4 second before it takes its final size
* when the mouse enters from the left, the bar grows all in a sudden (not smooth at all)
* if the mouse is on the bar, and moved slowly to the right, the bar keeps blinking (probably a bug)

I hope that these issues are resolved in ksmoothdock cvs.

kleardock works perfectly compared to ksmoothdock. There is perhaps only the tooltips, which appear too fast :)

 Complie errors

by spideyrox on: Jan 19 2004

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lart_lgpl_2
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: *** [kleardock] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/dan/download/kleardock-0.5/src'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/dan/download/kleardock-0.5'
make: *** [all] Error 2

Any clues? I can see what the problem is, I just have no idea how to remedy it. I had everything working fine before, then I slicked my system and reinstalled RH9. Now I'm getting this error...?

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Dan!

Looks like you need libart_lgpl. Either install it via RPM or check out this website http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/stable/gnome/libart_lgpl.html

Good luck!

 Bug+feature request

I would like to have autohide feature like in kasbar so it would slide on screen when mouse cursor is at the bottom(or other location) of the screen.

Also, KlearDock segfaults if smalliconsize equals bigiconsize.

So in line 1224 of kleardock.cpp
change:
if (iwSmall > iwBig)
to:
if (iwSmall >= iwBig)

that should fix it.

I tried to put those to same size because I don't like icon zooming :P

 Bad Link...

Ummmm Could you fix your link to the kleardock page? It reads.

http://http//kleardock.sourceforge.net and it sends poor firefox to microsoft.com if you click on it. (Mozilla goes to google.)

Thanks

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
