Description:

KMyMoney is the BEST Personal Finance Manager for Linux Users, full stop.

It operates similar to MS-Money, supports different account types, categorisation of expenses and incomes, reconciliation of bank accounts and QIF import/export. Online banking support (statement download) is also provided for the OFX and HBCI protocols.

In order to stay informed about new releases of the software, please subscribe to the user mailing list of the project. To subscribe please visit https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kmymoney and follow the instructions presented.

Please report any problems to the KDE bug-tracker at https://bugs.kde.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=kmymoney4&format=guided and use kmymoney4 as project as we cannot check this site (kde-apps.org) on a regular/frequent basis.

There's also a forum at http://forum.kde.org/viewforum.php?f=69 where you can get help if needed.

Changelog:

The KMyMoney Team is pleased to announce the immediate availability of
KMyMoney version 4.6.4 [1][2]. This version contains quite a few fixes for bugs
found in 4.6.3 since it was released .

Here is a list of the most important changes since the last stable release:

* OFX files with UTF-8 data can now be imported correctly
* Fix displaying the 'Enter/Skip schedule' action icons in the homepage on
Windows
* Fixed the initial size of the schedule entry dialog in some use cases
* Fixed a hang in reports in some scenarios
* Fixed some Finance::Quote related problems on Windows
* Allow editing the memo of multiple transactions
* Fix schedule handling
* Make the QIF import on Windows usable
* Fix GnuCash file import
* Improve item navigation using the keyboard
* Scheduled transactions can now be correctly skipped or ignored when
automatic entry is enabled
* Fix the budgets that somehow still reference invalid accounts

For a full list of the changes please check out the changelog [3]. We highly
recommend upgrading to 4.6.2 as soon as possible. We would also recommend
packagers to endorse this version as their latest stable version of KMyMoney
due to the number of fixes available vs. 4.5.3. During this bugfix cycle a new
release of libalkimia was also made available.

It depends on the version of KMyMoney you are using. For the latest 0.8.7 you just need to have aqbanking and gwenhywfar installed. Make sure to have it built with at least qbanking and kbanking as frontends.

The KMyMoney configure script checks for an installed aqbanking package and picks it up (maybe you have to override some paths on the commandline). On earlier versions it could be that you need to pass --enable-kbanking as parameter to KMyMoney's configure run. Use 'configure --help' to find out about the defaults.

Hope that helps.

I have the latest version and found instructions on how to import OFX files, but do you know how to create a direct connection in 0.8.7?

I am not sure if OFX direct connect is supported by aqbanking at all. Might be a good question for the aqbanking people.

You can use KMyMoney's builtin OFX direct connect. You need to pass --enable-ofxbanking to configure in that case.

Hi There,

Running Kubuntu 7.04, I'm trying to compile KMM 0.8.7.

Running ./configure, I get this error:

checking how to run the C++ preprocessor... /lib/cpp
configure: error: C++ preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check

What can I do to fix it?

Hmm, strange. The output also tells you "See `config.log' for more details." So that's something you could do. If this is all greek to you, please send the config.log file to the developer mailing list at kmymoney2-developer@lists.sourceforge.net and we'll take a look into it.

A preliminary guess would be, that the compiler is not completely installed. I am not a Kubuntu user so this is a wild guess w/o having config.log in front of me.

The fix for keeping group ownerships fixes a huge headache for me since my wife and I both have logins on the same machine and share a kmymoney file.

Not until we've ported the project to KDE4. Don't expect this to happen anytime soon.

If only this had a print check feature....I could get rid of Quicken AND Microsoft. It's a win win!! Any chance it will develop into something like Quicken or, I hate to say it, MSMoney?

 About to try it...

I've been looking for a replacement for Quicken for ages and have tried several Linux offerings. KMyMoney looks good. It does most of what I want and it seems to have a very active development programme. I'd like to try 0.9 because it contains a number of enhancements that are important to me. I normally just install from the repos and am happy to use an older version in the interests of stability, but KMyMoney may have to be the exception. I understand that 0.9 is a development (beta?) release, but are there some 0.9.x releases that are more suitable for serious testing or are all 0.9.x release potentially equally 'fragile'.

I'm happy to test it, but I have the best part of 20 years worth of Quicken data to import (no - I'm not prepared to sacrifice my old data), so I have one hell of a time commitment in terms of getting the import completed. I don't want that time to be wasted, but I do want to try using 0.9.

Or is it possible to initially use 0.8 and 'share' the data with a 0.9 installation for the purposes of testing?

I've been using kmymoney v.9 since it's first beta without a crash during all this time.

I have ported my old quicken/gnucash history (6 years) to kmymoney v.8 and now I'm using it on v.9 without problems.

IMHO it is stable.

Mr. Turrini,

Would you consider posting a tutorial for importing from Quicken? A month ago I resolved to migrate my home desktop from WindowsXP to Fedora9. It's been a challenge, but fun too. The last Windows app I'm still grappling with is Quicken. I've been using Quicken for Windows for 10 years, and have upgraded to Quicken 2008. I have multiple accounts of multiple types at multiple instituions. Quicken 2008 will export a QIF file, but importing that QIF into kMyMoney 0.8.9 is the rub. It may be that I just need the correct QIF Profile. Would you be willing to provide yours?

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
