Works great on Arch + KDE4.2.2

by schnuerschuh on: Apr 20 2009

Score 50%

Hi,
thank you for the wonderful script. It works great for me!
I'm using the "Atelier" PlasmaTheme and even with this one, the results are great!!

I had just to edit the install-path in the createKdmTheme.sh for AcrhLinux:
/usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/MyKdmTheme

But that's really no problem!

By the way: I'm using the "SimpleLinux" KDE Splash Screen, which has a transparent background picture. So I have the same background for KDM, Splash Screen and Plasma. But a script for ksplash would also be great!

Thank you for the feedback, I need it to improve the script.

"I had just to edit the install-path in the createKdmTheme.sh for AcrhLinux:

I'm looking for a solid way to the find kdm path. In the previous version, I use locate, but it doesn't work by default with opensuse. I think I will use `kde4-config --path data`

My icon theme is not properly detected, it seems to fallback to oxygen all the time...

Yes it is not implemented.

If you find where the settings are stored, I'm interested.

Ok, thank you.

In the next version I will try to modify the tint of box and footer according to color settings. I don't know if it will give good results. I hope that themes like Aya will properly work. In a futur version I will adapt wallpaper size according to the screen size.
I think it is the last things necessary to make the script perfect.
After that, I will look on a ksplash theme generator.

I fear the tint capability of kdm is not enough to colorize like plasma does :(

 all KDE settings

This is a god-sent. But serious bliss would be the incorporation of activity and plasmoid settings as well as panel(s).

Is that impossible?

It may be possible, but use of scripts is limited.
Currently I am studying kde and plasma, so I don't think I will upload new version of these scripts.

I have extended them to generate a ksplash theme. It works and the splashscreen is actualized at logout.
But, to do that I develop a small C++/Qt program that generates a png file showing a plasma panel.
It is not perfect, but I can take the time to release it if somebody want.

During my free time, I try to convert my scripts in C++. So, I hope I will be able to make a kdm theme and a ksplash theme looking more like the desktop.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
