Minimum required   KDE 4.x

Submitted:  Jul 1 2009
Updated:  Oct 20 2013

Description:

This is a plasmoid to show the events and todos from Akonadi resources (KOrganizer, Birthdays etc.).
With a google resource also Google calendar items can be shown.
Also possible with a CalDAV resource.
A facebook resource is also available.

Incidences can be filtered, added, edited, deleted via context menu.

Needs KDE 4.6 to compile and
you need a working Akonadi.
I suggest using 4.7 and your done.

Thanks to the authors of todolist, public transport, rtm.

Some rpm for openSUSE can be found here:
Now in KDE:Unstable:Playground

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/geflei/

Mageia:
http://www.mageia-gr.org/rpm/1/x86_64/
http://www.mageia-gr.org/rpm/1/i586/

Kubuntu:
https://launchpad.net/~mikevaughn/+archive/omnilinux

There is also an ebuild in gentoo-overlay or so.

Feel free to send translations, feature requests.

Development has moved:
https://projects.kde.org/projects/playground/pim/plasmoid-eventlist

Changelog:

0.6.97
- previous version was buggy in removing items - fixed (I hope)

0.6.96
- check for already existing items to avoid doubled entries

0.6.95
- add contact name to possible substitutions
- filter for collections instead of resources (reconfigure filter necessary)

0.6.90 (0.7 rc)
- use kincindenceeditor if available
- delete incidences via menu
- fix bug with wrong mouse pointer position (wrong incidence selected)

0.6 adds autogrouping and filtering

I have been waiting for this kind of thing since reading about plasma.

Just a couple of suggestions:

1. A little bit more styling to separate headings from text and dates.

2. The first time I added it to desktop it hanged plasma. Had to kill it and restart-it a couple of times before I noticed it was akonadi that was not started. A fail notice would have helped.

Additional problems:

It seems that editing the calendar with the plasmoid on leads to excess CPU consumption in akonadi and lockup if plasma during that time...

Some styling will come in the next versions - just dont know how yet.

I try to address this akonadi thing - this should be fixed.

The CPU-consumption I cannot reproduce, not going over 3% for me.

At a first look you are missing some boost headers, have you installed boost-dev (or what ever it is called in your distribution)?

Thank you :)

There is no:
libakonadidev

and I only have boost-build and libboost1.35-dev.

I'll try with those and see what happens ;)

Okay with boost-build and libakonadi-dev it install without error but I cannot find it in the widgets panel.

"Build files have been written to: /home/fintan2/Downloads/KDE4/plasmoid-eventlist-0.1/build
fintan2@fintanws2:~/Downloads/KDE4/plasmoid-eventlist-0.1/build$"

Okay with risk of sounding stupid:

How do I get it onto the add widget panel?

Just to get this right, you already did make and make install (or sudo make install or su -c "make install")?

 No ressources found

First of all, thank you very much for this plasmoid. I waited so long for sth like this...
I have a running akonadi (started with akonadictl start) and filled calender in korganizer, but the plasmoid won't show any of my events. In KDE 4.3 the config gui in sys settings was removed, so i don't have a clue what to do. I've tried to search in the src, but only found akonadi calls. Can anybody help me?

There should be a settings icon in the advanced settings tab in systemsettings. The kcm-module is in the kdepim-runtime package now (e.g. opensuse kdepim4-runtime).

I'm using Arch Linux and Chakra and had the entry in sys settings. After switching to chakra testing, the entry vanished. Perhaps a package is missing?

 Really nice but...

This plasmoid is wonderful, but I have a 'small' problem with it : currently I have multiple calendar resources (all in remote ical), but only one is shown in the applet.

I had a look to the code, but it looks like every calendar's items should be retrieved. I have also tried to remove the displayed resource, but the applet is empty (like if no resources are present). Any idea to solve this issue ?

Just forget this comment, everything is working.

After some hacking in the plasmoid sources, I realized that Akonadi wasn't listing birthdays : Kontact was configured to use its own birthday's resource and that's why I was confused. After adding the Akonadi birthdays agent, they appeared magically in the applet.

So finally, really great plasmoid ! Thanks for your job.

Thanks a lot! Finally I can get rid of gdeskcal to permanently have an eye on my upcoming events! I have been waiting for this since KDE4 beginning.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
