Description:

This is a plasmoid to show the events and todos from Akonadi resources (KOrganizer, Birthdays etc.).
With a google resource also Google calendar items can be shown.
Also possible with a CalDAV resource.
A facebook resource is also available.

Incidences can be filtered, added, edited, deleted via context menu.

Needs KDE 4.6 to compile and
you need a working Akonadi.
I suggest using 4.7 and your done.

Thanks to the authors of todolist, public transport, rtm.

Some rpm for openSUSE can be found here:
Now in KDE:Unstable:Playground

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/geflei/

Mageia:
http://www.mageia-gr.org/rpm/1/x86_64/
http://www.mageia-gr.org/rpm/1/i586/

Kubuntu:
https://launchpad.net/~mikevaughn/+archive/omnilinux

There is also an ebuild in gentoo-overlay or so.

Feel free to send translations, feature requests.

Development has moved:
https://projects.kde.org/projects/playground/pim/plasmoid-eventlist

Changelog:

0.6.97
- previous version was buggy in removing items - fixed (I hope)

0.6.96
- check for already existing items to avoid doubled entries

0.6.95
- add contact name to possible substitutions
- filter for collections instead of resources (reconfigure filter necessary)

0.6.90 (0.7 rc)
- use kincindenceeditor if available
- delete incidences via menu
- fix bug with wrong mouse pointer position (wrong incidence selected)

0.6 adds autogrouping and filtering

 Laundry list, and thank you!

by AlejandroNova on: Mar 13 2011

Score 50%

Thank you for all of your effort. Although 0.3.96 doesn't run on my system with KDE PIM/Akonadi 4.6, I successfully compiled and run the GIT master version, and it's awesome. I must ask for a few things.

1. The config dialog is too big. Please, can you make it smaller? (1280x800 screen at 125 dpi, it's just too big ;)

2. Can you make the Birthdays actually respect the Birthday setting (for birthdays gathered with the Facebook resource)?

Thanks in advance.

What parts? Only the format page? This has been reported by others already. I can make it a tabbed widget. If it is possible without string changes I will include it in the coming stable.

What means birthday setting? Color or other data? I dont have a facebook account to try this (I wanted to avoid this ;-))

1. Yes, it's the format page. I can't shrink the dialog because of it.

2. The Facebook Akonadi resource writes your friends' birthdays to the Birthday Akonadi resource. Although the interface claims to discriminate between a birthday and a normal event, no discrimination is in place and all events have the same format. What should happen is: Birthdays should appear as %{startDate} %{yearsSince}. %{summary}. I'm with a Spanish system, so, maybe you are looking for the specific "Birthday" word, instead of "Cumpleaños", or whatever.

At the first look the facebook resource just adds contacts to the adressbook.
there maybe a few reasons for the problem.
What categorie is used for them?

I set up a facebook account for testing but as I dont know somebody else whos on facebook I have no contacts... ^^

How to add some for testing?

The Facebook resource does a lot more than that.

1. It adds your Facebook friends to your addressbook. That's what you saw.

2. It adds birthdays to the Birthdays resources. This has some troubles, but they are identifiable and different from what I see in your app (if the birth year isn't set, the app says that you are 2199 years old)

3. It adds all of your Facebook events to your KOrganizer view.

4. (Experimental) It adds your Facebook notes to KJots.

5. (Experimental) It adds info about who's going to what event.

What about a spanish translation? ;-)

The dialog is fixed! But I think that fixing the Birthdays issue is a little more complicated.

I have little experience in requesting Git mergings, but I can work out a translation (I already did it for Bangarang). Let me find some time for it next week ;).

You can do it with git,
but just taking eventapplet.pot, translate it and save it as es.po (es is spanish?) and send it to me by email is sufficient too.

Birthdays format works for me, what is the category shown for your facebook birthdays? Maybe its because of the translation, you just need to create a format for this categorie.

With the dates, there's not much I can do, If for the facebook user the birthday is given without year the plugin uses 0001 a.d..

About birthdays: it's a l10n issue. I changed the category to "Cumpleaños" and all worked flawlessly. Maybe I should do quickly that translation ;)

Dont know if you really can call it a bug, if the birthday is not defined theres no way to set it.
One could think about filtering ridiculous wrong birthdays and substitute with XX or something.

 Alternate rows are white

by lodda on: Apr 2 2011

Score 50%

Hello,

its a bit offtopic, but some plasmoid looks ugly on my kde. On some lists every second row has a background-color instead of transparency. Like this one ...
http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/6042/ereignislistezeilen.png

I have the same thing on other plasmoids. Is the same color as the "window background" from my color-scheme. I tried other color-schemes and plasmoid-themes, but nothing helps.

Anyone a idea how to solve this?

Thanks!

There is a problem with the packages for Fedora 14 (64bit). Everytime I want to set the ressources that should be shown, plasma crashes. When the eventlist is compiled from source, there are no problems.

 Weekly dates

And, furthermore, it would be great to have an option to show only the next date if there are daily or weekly dates. :)

I have problems to understand what you mean - recurring daily events?

the crash happens in eventapplet:364, right? Dont know, other distros work. maybe its because it is compiled against kde 4.5 with obs but kde it updated to 4.6 for f14 (should be binary forward compatible though).

But I dont get it to work with the binary at all, no events for me. :(

I have one Akonadi ressource for my timetable of university lessons. When the plasmoid shows my events for the next 30 days, there is 50 times the same event - day for day.

That is not what I want. From my point of view it would be handy to show just the next lessons, not all follow ups of it.

Great, thanks a lot. :)

btw: I use KDE 4.6 and compiled eventlist with the -DHAS_AKONADI_PIM=1 option, but open events / todos still doesn't work.

the -DHAS_AKONADI_PIM=1 is for kdepim-runtime 4.6, if you use pim-runtime 4.4.10/11 it is not necessary.

Can you try current git if possible for open events with the context menu?

That are kde standard resources.
You need to add akonadi resources pointing to your calendars.

You can do this with the akonaditray utility or akonadiconsole.

one more thing though, is there a way to hide events from today that already passed? or perhaps give them a different color?

Thanks again for this great plasmoid, been looking for it for long time.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
