I have some problems with launching your plasmoid.

When i'm adding it to desktop, it write that cannot create python engine.
When i had run "plasmoidwiever Plasmacon", i get "dantix@debian:~$ plasmoidviewer Plasmacon
findServiceByDesktopPath: not found", and it's work property, but not as plasmoid, as normal window.

Google adviced run "kbuildsycoca4" but it's not working for me.

I have installed:
KDE 4.3.00
python-kde4
plasma-scriptengine-python

Distro: Debian 5.02 Sid

Please, help me with it.
Sorry for my poor English =)

Also you should have python-dev package installed. But any way, I've launched Plasmacon in Debian just now and still it don't work correctly in Debian Sid.

 Plasmacon widget dimensions

by MiCap on: Aug 29 2009

Score 50%

I have plasmacon installed and it works fine. The problem is that everytime I logout and login again, plasmacon loses the dimensions I had before logging out.
I tried to edit plasma-desktop-appletsrc to set the dimensions but it didn't accept.

 Maybe fix a small issue

I don't know if that is possible in python or not. Specially PyKDE. But you maybe could change the Plasma::Applet into a Plasma::PopupApplet because that would be very cool. This way you can move it to a panelbar and pop it up if needed.
If this is possible to be safe check that there is a icon set for the PopupApplet

I guess it is impossible now. My attempts to implement it was unsuccessful.

 height and width values

by MiCap on: Sep 17 2009

The reset of height and width values is not completely corrected.
It saves the width but not the height. Try to make your Plasmacon beeing the same size of your desktop and then tell me if it works well for you.
I have the plasma option "Different activity for each desktop" enabled. Don't know if it could be related or not.

Possibly, the problem is in python 2.5, that is default for debian sid. I use python 2.6 in gentoo.

Try to change line 77 in ~/.kde4/share/apps/plasma/plasmoids/Plasmacon/contents/code/main.py file:

from "except ValueError as e:"
to "except ValueError, e:".

It works for my debian sid.

 Multiple instances

by MiCap on: Sep 19 2009

Now the dimensions seems to be fixed, but I noticed that the dimensions values are common for all instances of plasmacon. So is not possible to have multiple plasmacon widgets with different dimensions. Am I right about that?
This widget is very useful. Keep the good working!

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
