Description:

A configurable script that fetch lyrics from various sites.

  • Features:
    - Multiple site search (reload button can change site source)
    - Google search suggestions
    - Sites arranged by priority
    - Adequate charset support
    - Automatic (omitting track numbers, bracket, parenthesis, feat) and manual adjustment for artist and song name
    - Localizable GUI settings (cache, display mode, sites...)
    - Display modes: rich text, plain text
    - File cache (with expire period)

  • Supported web servers:
    wikia.com, lyricsplugin.com, lyricstime.com, lyricsreg.com, metrolyrics.com, seeklyrics.com, azlyrics.com, jamendo.com, darklyrics.com, mp3lyrics.org, songlyrics.com, elyrics.net, lyricsdownload.com, lyrics.com, lyriki.com, lyricsmode.com, lyricsbay.com, loudson.gs, lyricsfreak.com, sing365.com, allreggaelyrics.com, stixoi.info, teksty.org, tekstowo.pl, vagalume.uol.com.br, google.com

  • Translated into:
    - Czech
    - English
    - French (needs updating)
    - German
    - Italian
    - Lithuanian (needs updating)
    - Portuguese
    - Russian
    - Serbian
    - Spanish
If you want to help translating the script in your language or update an existent translation follow the instructions from README inside script directory.
Note that comment from script.spec is also translatable.

  • Notice:
    - It's suggested to turn off other lyric scripts like default LyricWiki.
    - Some ideas (codes) are taken from Glyrics, LyricWiki, Lyrix and Wiki-Lyrics.
    - Serially web sites change themselves, which can cause the script stops working for the site. Script adaptations are required when a site changes its "template".
    - Script can automatically (without google support) search only sites which URL can be constructed solely by artist and title.
    - The script is usually installed in ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/scripts/ultimate_lyrics/ or in ~/.kde4/share/apps/amarok/scripts/ultimate_lyrics/
    - It's possible to disable loading of Ultimate Lyrics in ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc or by removing Ultimate Lyrics installation folder
    - Defaults settings can be changed in main.js when GUI settings doesn't work.
    - The script is not automatically updatable. Occasionally you have to update the script manually from Tools->Script Manager->Get More Scripts->Update

  • To do:
    nothing planned

  • Known issues:
    - The script uses system language settings (chosen by GDM) instead of kde regional settings (can be altered in main.js).
    - The script should work properly with Qt framework 4.5.x or 4.6.x, but may have problems (like missing GUI settings) with an older version.

There is a bug in the current version that disables the site (and a lot of others). In the next version the site will work, but only through google search (not directly).

My fault. Directly is wrong word. I meant automatically.
You will see a list of sites (list of URLs coloured in blue), and one of sites will be www.stixoi.info.
Then you will have to click the URL to show lyrics. This is because the site doesn't use artist-title in URL
and can't be easily queried by the script, so the script use google.com for that job (this is an idea from another script btw).
All of this is inside the player of course.

In README there is a short guide about adding new site. Basically you need to write one function that extract valid text from HTML in qtscript language (javascript). Since allreggaelyrics.com has been added in new version, you won't need to write anything.
If google search suggests others sites instead of this one, and you want to use this one, you should change search domain for google search (in configuration dialogue).

At start of patch.js you will find a commented line:
    const INCLUDE_PATCH_FOR_OPEN_SUSE = true;
Try to uncomment the line, restart amarok and report if script is working. It looks similar to a bug in openSUSE. The bug is related to json, which I had just took over. Btw, amarok 2 is a great player. Do not retreat yet.

still the same error. funny enough that amarok just tells the line and not which file.

yes, i'm sure it's a great player (as amarok 1.* ever was), and since i'm using debian _testing_ for some years now i am used to some degree of instability. but the bugs, instabilities and missing features that came with kde4 (and i waited with upgrading until 4.2) and everything that had to do with kde4 are still a little bit surprising.

but enough of that, is there anything i can do to find out what the problem is? i don't see anything that looks like a syntax error on any line 341 i found.

Oh, I think I have just found where is the bug. It is very ugly bug in lyrics.js which affects only new users of the script (users who install script for the first time).

    Fix:
go to lyrics.js, line 341, function String.prototype.unpack and insert new line:
    if (this == "") return undefined;

If script starts working, you can disable previously enabled openSUSE patch by reverting patch.js to initial code.

    see the bug http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=206495.

However since it get fixed you can play with CSS. Here is what you can do:
    1. in lyrics.js go to line 165 (or just search for </head>)
    2. before </head> insert the following css code:
    Quote:
    <style type="text/css">body{color: purple; background-color: silver} a:link{color: GhostWhite; text-decoration: none}</style>

    3. change colours according to CSS

This works only in rich text mode (when the script returns an html page)

Suggestion for metrolyrics is accepted, and the site will be included in next version. Unfortunately, it is hard to include darklyrics since they don't contain song title in an url.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
     Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
