Mousegestures for all Browsers

   1.8

KDE Improvement

Score 89%
Mousegestures for all Browsers
zoom

Depends on  KDE 4.x
Downloads:  5843
Submitted:  Aug 4 2009
Updated:  Feb 21 2010

Description:

Here are some mousegestures for KHotkeys.
(KHotkeys is included in KDE >= 4.3 by default)

It supports:

- Chromium
- Chrome
- Opera
- Firefox
- Arora
- Rekonq
- Konqueror
- Dolphin
- Kontact

(requires KDE >= 4.3)

Installation:

Just go to Systemsettings -> InputActions and import "browsergestures.khotkeys".

Make sure gestures are enabled. The default mousebutton is set to "2" (mouse wheel). I prefer "3" (right button). You can change these settings at "settings".

see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UgkKeXUBGs

1.5:

Yes you're right. You can deactivate the condition "opera".

But when you do this it is not possibly to do global mouse gestures in Opera. There will be a conflict between the gestures of opera and the gestures of KHotkeys.

KHotkeys is not only a gesture-system for browser-gestures. I use it also to start programs.

 Akregator

This also works for the Konqueror kparts in Akregator and Kontact if conditions for those two applications are added.

Yes, that would be very nice. But I can't include it because there is no keyboard-shortcut/shell-command for this action :(

Or does anybody know this shell-command?

See the wmiface utility (not shipped as part of KDE though).

Works fine in Kubuntu 9.10 and Chromium 4.0.252.0 (Ubuntu build 32323).

Maybe you could adjust the conditions.

but there´s an easy way to have desktop wide mouse gestures: easystroke, in (k)ubuntu you´ll find it in synaptic
i use it and it is really great

Thanks.

But why is this way easier? With KHotkeys you don't have to install anything at all :)

well, easier was the wrong word...
it just isn´t limited to the browsers, so if someone wants to have gestures for other apps or desktop actions, too, it is easier, cause no thinking about solutions is necessary

This is exactly, what KHotkeys does. You can set up a global gesture which works in your hole desktop environment. There is no difference between KHotkeys and Easystroke or Gestikk. I just made gestures for browsers only to avoid conflicts with other programs. I for myself have disabled the conditions so that it will work everywhere.

 easystroke

by takanowaka on: Mar 19 2010

Score 50%

i see it was already mentioned that khotkeys and easystroke are similar in what they do.. i just want to say that khotkeys are port of easystroke to kde http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-licensing&m=123689091521025&w=2
with this said i don't know if any other work or development is done on khotkeys but easystroke is updated and brings more features
long story short give easystroke a try so you can compare features of these two ;)

here is sample of my action http://www.mediafire.com/?tmamogmzjiy
*some of the hotkeys are custom (like kwin min/max) so you need to change them in your settings

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
