Description:

KBluetooth is a program which aims to provide a complete application for the usage of bluetooth within KDE.

This is a continuation of kde-bluetooth, but with a very different philosophy, we\'re going to focus first in the user needs, which means implement everything that a bluetooth application should have.

Once we have it finished and the user has almost all his needs fulfilled, we\'ll change our focus to develop/improve the current KDE bluetooth support, so a lot of solid movement is expected.

Changelog:

Version 0.4.2
=====================================
* Fix speed calculation when receiving and sending filesI
* Pairing request are accepted also when clicking on Trust button
* Important dialogs are modal, so they’re not hidden by other applications
* Fix a crash that happens when the sender device disconnects before the file transfer is accepted

Version 0.4.1
=====================================
* Fix a crash when receiving files

Version 0.4
=====================================
* Kbluetooth can connect to an already know device without have to remove/create it again.
* Fix quite a lot dbus related crashes.
* The receive directory is now configurable with an interface.
* The receive dialog allows you to configure where the file will be saved.
* Add devices to a \"white list\" to auto accept files comming from these devices (uses KWallet so is secure).
* Send to allow to select more than one file to be send.
* Fix some issues while receiving more than one file in the same execution.
* Integration with nepomuk (this was done before, but not announced).
* Nepomuk is optional at build time.
* Compatible with kde 4.3 or greater
* i18n should be fixed now, let\'s go to translate!

 feature request.disable device

by him on: Oct 1 2009

Would it be possible to add an entry in the menu to disable the bluetooth adapter?

I hope that this isnt such difficult. But it would be very useful to save battery-life.I already asked for it: See bug 359751 (kdebluetooth) and 312959 (bluez-gnome) on launchpad.
359751 is not a duplicate of 312959!

In bluez-gnome this feature request was implemented in ubuntu karmic.
In kdebluetooth its still missing.
Do you think you will be able to implement it in your final "0.4"?
I think in this case it would maybe ready for Kubuntu karmic release.

I really hope that this isnt that difficult.

thanking you in anticipation
him

I dont know if a simple
hciconfig hci0 down / up
would be enough. It would be nice if you could leave a message that you are working on it somewhere, either in launchpad, kde-apps or irc (mellhen).

many thanks for your work

 qDebug vs kDebug

by damjan on: Oct 24 2009

Score 50%

the source code of kbluetooth (checked-out of svn as of now) uses both qDebug() << and kDebug() <<

only qDebug() actually has any effect by default, I've had to replace all of qDebug to kDebug in order to debug a problem with the obexserver.

what's the correct sollution here?

 problem & patch

by damjan on: Oct 24 2009

Score 50%

I've noticed that when kbluetooth starts, and obex-data-server is not already running it will fail to accept files sent to it.

the thing is, obex-data-server is auto-started by dbus the first time it's services are required, but kbluetooth seems to not detect that.

here's a patch that removes the isValid() check, which seems unnecesseary anyway (all the other method calls have their own error handling)

Hi,
could you add a DBus function like this:
sendFile( KUrl url )

Bluetooth could be integrated in many apps like dolphin or amarok.

 Left-right click

by Phemt on: Nov 12 2009

Score 50%

First: thank you for this wonderful work! :)

One thing that I've noticed:
Doing a left click on the kbluetooth icons does nothing. You have to do a right click. This seems a little strange to me. I think that at least the main actions should go with the left click.
I'd move everything to left click (included the future "disable bluetooth") except: Settings, About and Quit.

Again, thank you for your work :)

Hi, Good idea!
What I can do ATM is only add the same action with left click too (the same menu will be showed), as it can be classified as bug.
In 0.5 version I'll ask to usability people what you do, I really don't like have different menus in different buttons.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
