Description:

Firefox stores its passwords internaly, optionally protected by a master password. KDE has its own password manager called KWallet. KWallet stores every password in the KDE system, and protects access by a master password. With this extension you are able to use KWallet instead of the default Firefox password manager. It allows tighter integration of Firefox inside KDE.

It seems that the crashes experienced by the users are related to the new Javascript JIT Compiler Called ION Baseline. Disabling it seems to solve the problem. You can disable it by setting javascript.options.baselinejit.* in about:config to false

Changelog:

Version 2.2:

* Change in API, added isLoggedIn()

Version 2.1:

* Corrected a memory leak
* Use nsIPrefBranch instead of nsIPrefBranch2
* Correct problem saving UTF8 passwords

Version 2.0:

* New API, based on js-ctypes
* Select wallet folder based on App name, thanks to Mociej Sitarz

 Bug

by nicotine on: May 16 2011

Score 50%

This extension is unable to update existing passwords. For example when I have changed it on the web service and then entered a new data into the login form, FF asks me about updating the existing password but does nothing if I agree.

I can confirm this here:
Firefox 4.0.1, KDE 4.6.4

The extension is not able to update existing passwords in KWallet.

Seems like this addon almost dead and not work in Firefox 5. It was a bad idea to use it :)

Thanks a ton! Sometimes you need to loose something first to remember how much you need it. :)

You should put a flattr button or so on your blog or here.

First of all: great work!!! Thank you!!!

And now the bug. :)
I'm using FF5 and this add-on return an error (from FF5 "Error Console"):

Error: missing ; before statement
Source File: chrome://firefox-kde-wallet/content/overlay.js
Line: 1, Column: 11
Source Code:
var firefox-kde-wallet = {

that generate another error:

Error: invalid assignment left-hand side
Source File: chrome://firefox-kde-wallet/content/ff-overlay.js
Line: 1, Column: 33
Source Code:
firefox-kde-wallet.onFirefoxLoad = function(event) {

Don't worry about those errors, I am aware of them, I am trying to take them out, but they do not make the plugin fail.

Uhm...well, but I've identified those errors because the add-on doesn't works for me... :(

So, which can be the problem? The installation seem went good...

My problem was that it was asking me for the master password even after installing the extension.
The trick was to deactivate FIPS mode.
To do so you have to go to Preferences->Advanced->Security Devices. There you should see the button "Disable FIPS".
If you want to learn what FIPS is: https://developer.mozilla.org/en/NSS/FIPS_Mode_-_an_explanation

 Never worked here

by bitcrazy on: Jul 1 2011

openSUSE 11.4
FF 4 and 5
KDE 4.6.4
Doesn't save passwords in FF5, although asking or doesn't insert passwords already in the wallet from FF4, which saved the passwords but never inserted them.

crash after clicking on a hyperlink

DrKonqi handled a crash in your plugin for me, but it filed the bug at bugs.kde.org, which is apparently not what it was supposed to do. Christoph Feck instructed me to file the bug here instead.

in the interest of not pasting a traceback in the comments here, i'll simply provide a hyperlink to the b.k.o report: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=278564. i'll happily paste the traceback here if you'd like.

 incorrect bug tracker address

according to Christopher Feck's comment #4 on bug #278564 [1], your plugin does not set a correct bug tracker address. see [2] for instructions.

Now a new version is out. But is there anything to do other than installing the plugin? When I enter a website with a password field, firefox keeps asking me for the password of its built-in password storage. This has also been the case with firefox 5 and version 0.10 of this plugin. Using kubuntu as distro, if this is of importance.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
