Kumula is designed to become a complete software suite for business needs. Started as software for consultants, it is flexible enough to be used by almost any class of business. It provides a small CRM ("Clients") and some other applications. Everybody is invited to use it or enhance it.

Look at the INSTALL file in the package or visit www.kumula.org for a detailed installation description.

This is the last stable release before I'll port it to Qt4 (as "Kumula2"), so I feel free to call it "1.0". :-)

The whole suite is becoming bigger and bigger, so now it's time to split it. This is the base package with the central Kumula library and the most important applications. The package contains the following programs:

- BizCalc:
The modular designed calculator tool, coming with a spartanic RPN calculator and an unit conversion module

- Clients:
The client/customer management application, with many improvements (like individual client attributes) and the modules "Info" (logo+description), "Contacts" (for managing contact persones, addresses and communication data) and "Tickets" (for letting the users talk about a client like on a web forum)

- Configurator:
The central configuration utility, to setup the database access and the user interface (menus, icons, ...) of all Kumula applications.

- Users:
A small tool for managing the people using Kumula.

Further application will be provided in separate packages for easier maintenance and faster bugfixes and updates.

Hi polrus, thanks for your proposal. I will port all Kumula application to PyQt4 first (as soon as it's available), and after that I will implement central localization functions to them.
After that, I'll be happy about every translator, so I'll get back to you! :-)

What widget style and win decoration do you use with your desktop in the screenshots?
I've never seen them and they look cool! :-)

The widget style is "Active Heart", because it's looking good and supporting pixmaps (the "K" icon) in menubars:

The win deco is called "Polyester":

 problems connectiong

ok, i posted this on the sourceforge forum, but no response back

Im trying to install kumula on Ubuntu linux 6.06, but can't get it to work. i installed mysql and kumula's dependencies, set the root password, and ran the queries. When i run its connection script, it says it cant connect as root on localhost:3306, i also created it its own user account and tried it that way, and still not working.

i checked/etc/mysql/my.cnf and it shows its binded to port 3306 on, i also ran sudo /etc/init.d/mysql restart and it successfully restarts, still no go. from there i ran netstat -tap and i have this:
tcp 0 0 localhost:mysql *:* LISTEN -

any fix for this?

Check the console output - if you see lines like 'driver not loaded' then that means you need to install the Qt MySQL driver. On Debian it's libqt3-mt-mysql.

Where is the "Documents" DMS? It doesn't seem to be part of the Base package, and I can't find it listed separately.

 No module named Qt

Hey I'm new to linux and using applications on it.
I looked the buisness suite up and was curious about it. I'm currently running Knoppix LIVE Cd.
When I try and load the *.py files in the Terminal I get this message:

[knoppix]$ /home/knoppix/kumula/bin/bizcalc.py
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/home/knoppix/kumula/bin/bizcalc.py", line 14, in ?
import kumula
File "/home/knoppix/kumula/bin/../lib/kumula.py", line 15, in ?
from qt import *
ImportError: No module named qt

Do I need to download a copy of the QT Script? If so, Which one? And am I going about this the right way?

Much appreciated..

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
