This is so great!
Do you think you could get a more KDE styled dropbox tray icon? The dropbox default one looks old..

It's about time someone did this. Thanks! I can't wait to try it out, but I use Kubuntu. Don't forget about us .deb users.

Thanks so much for this. I was able to convert the fedora rmp file to a deb using alien which i installed and everything worked fine. However under the Mic Tab in preference i cant seem to figure out what value to add to "Dropbox.py location" Field. also it doesnt ask me for a user name and password. am I doing anything wrong?

This app works like a charm. I have it installed on both of my computers and my girlfriend's. It would be nice if it was easier to install, but I'm sure that is already something in the works.

Another suggestion/request would be to give the icon in the system tray a plasma tooltip like most apps use now, instead of the default blue one. Thanks again for making this!

I don't know if this is true, but it seems to maintain a more stable connection than the official client, though I have no idea why. I just know I haven't had to restart Dropbox to get it to sync as I used to have to do occasionally in the past.

Hi! Thank you for the ideas. Yes I'm planning to improve the installation process, it isn't an example of usability.

 idea

I have three ideas for this very good application.
1. Start dropbos daemon with kdropbox or menu item "start (stop) daemon"
2. Shows the amount of free disk space
3. Open file manager when click on tray icon

Thank you Karapuz.

Start/Stop daemon will be available on the next release in a couple of weeks.

Some other operations like "amount of free space" depend on the availability of an API from Dropbox. I think they are working on it.

Off course I will consider the third one.

 great work but...

First off I would like to say congratulations for the great work.

Far from me to discourage such endeavours but you all do know that you can already acheive all os this with the official daemon/tool.

All you have to do is download:
wget -O dropbox.tar.gz http://www.dropbox.com/download\?plat=lnx.x86

Extract to your home folder leaving you with a .dropbox-dist folder.

Go into that folder and start the daemon with -i option.

This will download and install all it needs. All that is left is create a symlink so that when you click on the icon in the tray it will open dolphin.

This shows you sync state, space, etc all without gnome depencies.

Cheers,
PL

Yes, I know. I had that installation in one of my computers but I enjoy programming in QT and I'm expecting Dropbox to deliver an API.

To my knowledge, that method doesn't produce a KDE integrated system tray icon and menu, which is a large reason why Kdropbox is valuable.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
