Description:

Clone of Compiz\' Reflection effect, paints an image below every window.

Created on request by Michael K., who deserves thanks for testing and kicking my butt =)

Known issues: doesn\'t work with multipolygon effects (wobbly windows, magic lamp, etc.) - so far ;-)

If only you could do that with kwin instead of Bespin.

Bespin is horrible

this _is_ a kwin plugin - there's no relation to the style (except that it provides the ARGB, ie. partially translucent windows)

thanks for hating bespin.

 KDE 4.5 Problem

by augegr on: Jul 26 2010

Score 50%

Doesn't work with KDE 4.5 (using oxygen-transparent, but I guess that doesn't matter). When I try to activate it I get a notification saying

"KDE Window Manager:

The Following desktop effects could not be activated:

* BeReflected"

did you compile it on kde 4.4?
(the effects lib is not ABI stable and increases its version from time to time, so you _must_ compile and link the effect for the current KDE version)

 Some pictures of the effect

Here's three screenshots of the effect in action. It's like its shaping oxygen in to other materials :-p

Very nice work Thomas! As usual.

there's no such setting if you're looking for it - the effect derived from some demand to put a complex structure behind an argb window.

However, it's not too hard to add this (just manipulate scale and offset, while i'd recommand to have a properly scaled pixmap for xrender in place)

Do you wanna try it yourself (and maybe need assistance) or just "i want a checkbox that does some smart countermovement depending on the texture & window size" ;-)

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
