Amarok 2.0 Script

Score 80%
Homepage:  Link
Minimum required   KDE 4.x

Submitted:  Jul 3 2010
Updated:  May 31 2012

Description:

First of all: This is not an Amarok script in the common sense. Do not install this in Amarok! Read this file to get the idea!

This tool grabs your statistic from last.fm and merges it into your existing amarok database.

Since last.fm relies on MusicBrainz ( http://musicbrainz.org ) for tagging, in general it is a good idea to tag your media with MusicBrainz Picard ( http://musicbrainz.org/doc/MusicBrainz_Picard ) By tagging your music with Picard (or any other ID3 tagger using MusicBrainz) you will get the best results when using this script. All tracks not recognized by this script are skipped.

It will synchronize your playcount (how often you listened to a specific track) and the first and last played date of a track (with the accuracy of a few days).

Listed on kde-apps.org http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=127016

Sourcecode available at github.com http://github.com/gauda/klastfm

When reporting errors, please include your last.fm username in the bugreport!

Changelog:

Klastfm is now based on LastToLibre, an external app to download your last.fm history, removed the option to rate the tracks

Please, add something like "#!/usr/bin/ruby" or may be "#!/usr/bin/ruby18" to the top of klastfm.rb. This file has eXecutable in permissions, first thing average Linux user does is "./klastfm.rb" ;)

 Progressbar?

I have installed all of the dependencies instead of "progressbar" package, which I can't find anywhere. I have installed packages "perl-Term-ProgressBar" and "python-progressbar", but the script still refuses to work with this message:

warning: HTTParty depends on version 0.1.7 of crack, not 0.1.6.

I also edited the "config.yaml" file correctly. I'm using OpenSUSE 11.2. Could You help me?

 Embedded MySQL

by bitcrazy on: Jul 18 2010

Score 50%

Any chance to add an option to change the socket? I'm starting mysql with Amarok's embedded database via script and use a socket to manipulate my ratings. Your app only works with mysql's default socket. It would be nice, if it asks after the path to the socket, which is ~/.kde4/share/apps/amarok/sock in my case.
This would help alot of people using Amarok with embedded mysql.

 Where to find socket?

I'm using amarok-2.3.1 with mysql-embedded database on Fedora 13. But where do I find the socket to insert in the config.yaml? I do not find it in ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok or /tmp. Should I see the proper path when starting with "-debug"?

This error I get when using the script:

Start the script in ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok and you will get a socket in that dir which you can use to access the database.

Great, thx. (For the record, in Fedora the binary is located in /usr/libexec/mysqld)

However, I get the same error as posted above.

Hi

When I run this script I get this:
Could not open required defaults file: /home/lars/.kde/share/apps/amarok/my.cnf

The thing is that my.cnf is there, but it's empty. How to solve? Thanks.

Unfortunately the error changes from run to run.
Also a sort of cache mechanism would be fine.

I was getting many errors before... to solve them I've installed ruby-1.8 (it's already on 1.9) with all dependencies and them runned

Quote:
sudo gem install activerecord mysql httparty progressbar ya2yaml —no-rdoc —no-ri

After that I had this same error, it's just a log error. So I commented the following line:

Quote:
line 27: #ActiveRecord::Base.logger = Logger.new('log/database.log')

And everything worked just fine.

Hope the developer fix it on the next release.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
