Description:

KNemo - the KDE Network Monitor

A detailed review of the KNemo 0.4.7 can be found at Softpedia:
http://www.softpedia.com/reviews/linux/KNemo-Review-53310.shtml

KNemo offers a network monitor similar to the one found in Windows. For every network interface it displays an icon in the systray. It can also optionally montor traffic statistics.

Changelog:

Version 0.7.6
  • Tweak the dialogs to make them a bit more compact

  • Make the traffic plotter widgets behave more like those in the KDE System Monitor

  • Fix a few minor bugs that gave us wrong values in the traffic plotter range

  • LicenseGPL

    Hello,
I've noticed that knemo (0.4.2) causes kded to take about 1.5% cpu at all times.
I've tried to modify Misc/Update interval and found that if I set it to >5 secs it ease some cpu use... But it still quite high.
    Does anyone experience the same?
    Regards.

Yeah, problem is fixed. But now I has another problem :) KNemo counts traffic for all ppp-sessions (i.e. it keeps traffic-counters values after bringing down ppp-interface and uses it after next bringing up ppp-interface). But IMO most of users needs traffic-counter only for current session. Please make this feature optional - AFAIK it isn't difficult

#undef DATA_H there or in the cpp file did not change anything.

The problem is that something like "data.h" is a bit too generic. Neither Sonik nor KNemo should use risky names such as that. SonikData.h and KNemodata.h would avoid such problems.

Of course, setting up the configure scripts which are, however, also quite generic, to have -I for local directories BEFORE -I for globals such as $KDEDIR/include, /usr/include and such, should avoid the problem .

I'll revert this for Kubuntu/Debian pkgs and ask Dirk why he did this.

As is, 'load-on-demand' is only triggered when one opens knemos kcm module.

Maybe Dirk thinks that the correct way is that when knemo is configured it should also write

    X-KDE-Kded-autoload=true
    X-KDE-Kded-load-on-demand=false

to the desktop file??? In this case
    his fix was incomplete ;)

Independent of this it would be nice

If KDED (the program that loads all startup services) crashes then it is normal that none of the services is running. The question is which service is crashing KDED. Uninstall KNemo and see if KDED still crashes or not.

BTW: You can start KDED in a console and do not have to log out and in again to get it started.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
     Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
