Description:

KNemo - the KDE Network Monitor

A detailed review of the KNemo 0.4.7 can be found at Softpedia:
http://www.softpedia.com/reviews/linux/KNemo-Review-53310.shtml

KNemo offers a network monitor similar to the one found in Windows. For every network interface it displays an icon in the systray. It can also optionally montor traffic statistics.

Changelog:

Version 0.7.6
  • Tweak the dialogs to make them a bit more compact

  • Make the traffic plotter widgets behave more like those in the KDE System Monitor

  • Fix a few minor bugs that gave us wrong values in the traffic plotter range

  • LicenseGPL

    Hi,

sounds like you are using an older version of KNemo. Current version is 0.4.8 and contains some fixes for 'high cpu load'-bugs.

Could you please check and update if necessary.

For those running kde4 who want something that works basically like knemo did check out http://knetstats.sourceforge.net/

The fedora src rpm compiles under opensuse 11 with no changes.

Although I encourage you to compile the src rpm yourself for safety a precompiled opensuse 11 x86_64 rpm is at http://www.2shared.com/file/3561291/d870797d/knetstats-161-41x86_64.html

But in 0.4.8/debian testing I'm seeing wrong count for output traffic on my ppp0 interface. ppp0 is a VPN connection.

It shows I'm transferred out 265 Mb, but actually this is 2,65 mb

    Sorry if its already reported

    Hi,

there is no further development of KNemo so there won't be any bug fix releases.

What you could try to change in the configuration is the used backend. This could solve your problem.

     Month reset

I've only just installed KNemo, so forgive me for speaking from a position of some ignorance (and if this has already been covered). I presume that the statistics for "This month" will reset on the 1st of each month at midnight, so my question is, how easy is it to change this? My Internet billing resets on the 15th of each month, so it would be incredibly useful if KNemo did too. Is this a simple hardcoded value in the source somewhere that I can change easily enough? Thanks, cheers.

Unfortunately its no hard coded value. It simply compares the current month against the month reported by QDate::currentDate(). And if Qt thinks there is a new month KNemo also starts a new month.

Its in interfacestatistics.cpp in function updateCurrentMonth(). This function creates a new month whenever it can't find the current month in the statistics.

Maybe you could use a condition like 'only if we have a new month and the current day is equal or greater 15 create a new month'. But this could cause some unexpected behavior elsewhere.

How do you like Plasma 5?
     The best KDE Desktop ever.
     Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
