Normally I find a README.TXT or something with instructions. Here is output of command "cmake ./"

CMake Warning (dev) in CMakeLists.txt:
No cmake_minimum_required command is present. A line of code such as

cmake_minimum_required(VERSION 2.8)

should be added at the top of the file. The version specified may be lower
if you wish to support older CMake versions for this project. For more
information run "cmake --help-policy CMP0000".
This warning is for project developers. Use -Wno-dev to suppress it.

untar the file, then cd into it.
Then compile it with "cmake ." that is cmake then a space and a period
Once that is done, type "make" it should get to 100%, if not then you have a problem.
After make is done, install it with "make install"

Do you have any of the KDE development packages installed?
In Debian it is called kdebase-workspace-dev so should be the same for Kubuntu. Might need kdelibs5-dev also, I think.
And make sure you do have gcc installed.

I tried on my Mytbuntu box running KDE 4.5.1, and it installed with no problem, but it does not show up anywhere in Kmenu, but runs from the command line fine.

My other box is Debian Sid running KDE 4.4.5 and that works perfectly and shows up in the menu.

Wow, very nice seen! But actually, that error appears 'cause a line for cmake isn't present in CMakeLists.txt
Next time READ before you comment.

As how to fix the error: open CMakeLists.txt in the source folder of this program. Then add at the top of the file (above everything else) the following line:

CMAKE_MINIMUM_REQUIRED(VERSION 2.8)

Save it, then cd to the folder again. Run:

rm CMakeCache.txt

Then run cmake again and now it should build :)

Great app. I've been waiting for this since I've never been able to get NetworkManger to work. I only have a small problem, which might be attributed to my sessions not being closed down properly but I get two instances each login (ie two icons in my taskbar). One is usually called wicd-client-kde whilst the other is a kdeinit/kdesession instance.

Well, a minor bug for something great. Keep it up.

 A few more things

Hi again,

I've just tried out your brand new release and have a few more things to make it even better:

1.- The .desktop file doesn't include the new name:

Name=Wicd Client "for" KDE

2.- Next you have .desktop entries for Spanish:
- GenericName[es]=Cliente Wicd
- Name[es]=Cliente Wicd para KDE

3.- I have tested it out the new feature that remembers the position and size of the window. At least in my PC, it does not work. I have moved and resized the window. Then right click on the tray icon and selected Quit. When I started it up again, it did not remember anything about this.

4.- I miss an "About..." option. You could add it when right-clicking on the tray icon. There is no other simple way to know what version you running otherwise, or am I wrong?

5.- In a few minutes I'll send you by email the Spanish translation.

Thanks a million for you time and effort.

Hi,
1- Isn't the "Name" field supposed to be for the app name? I mean like KMix or Konqueror? And then the "GenericName" would be more descriptive, like "Wicd client for KDE". I know I translated the "Name" string in the desktop file, but maybe there was no point of doing it...
2 and 5- Thanks!
3- Ok they are two things here:
The first is the bug you pointed out in your first comment, I didn't expected the window not to remember its size when you close it. Not quit, just close. This is now fixed.
The second thing is what you are pointing out now, that is the window does not remember its size between "sessions". This is on the TODO list, but I haven't really looked into that yet.
4- That's true. Will do ;)

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
