nice script, I added "nice -n 19" to the moodbar call because with long playlist it made my system too busy (like load over 20).

args = ["-n","19","moodbar","-o", mood, path];
QProcess.startDetached("nice",args);

It would be great if you could incorporate this. My amarok uses 100% of both cores even when set to one concurrent thread which makes the whole system pretty slow when opening a bunch of sounds with no moods yet...
Unfortunately my knowledge about those scripts is close to zero, I don't know how to replace the process.start() with the startDetached() one without killing other functionality like number of max threads and alike...
Thank you very much for this otherwise very cool plugin!!

You should change "How many tracks generate in the same time" in Settings -> Configure Moodbar Script. But if amarok can't generate all tracks in start, try to change processNumMax variable.
I change this variable to 3 now.

I've already changed that in the dialogue to 1 !
But still, amarok seems to be at 100% cpu while the moodbar process is running - maybe it's in a busy loop, using 100% cpu?

It would also be very nice to be able to run the moodbar process using nice -n 19 - could you add this to the script as well?
Thank you very much!

Hi

I've seen you updated the script, I can see some "nice" commands in it - unfortunately, now the script does not work at all anymore. No .mood files are generated but amarok still uses 100% CPU and I see some defunct moodbar processes from time to time...? There must still be something wrong...?

Thanks a lot!!

Did you installed moodbar command? You can run this command if it is so. Amarok should not working well with this script if moodbar not installed. I will try to solve this problem. Try this link http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/Moodbar
If you have moodbar installed, I don't know cause of this problem, maybe someone else can give an advise.

 Process count

by Zorael on: Dec 13 2010

Score 50%

It works great for me and successfully created moodbars for all songs in my playlist. However it did them all at once, starting a total of 47 concurrent processes.

Could it perhaps be limited so that only a sane number of moodbars are being generated at any one time? And then when one finishes, it proceeds to the next one.

I add process count. How do you think 15 processes is enough? I would be glad if you test new script.

 Blank mood files

I have found a bug: if I quit while files are generating, files are left but with zero size, and then moodbar generator not tries to create it again.

Updated, thank you. If the updated version works not fine, please let me know. I knew about this bug, but thought, that other bug (that you can't quit amarok, while moodfiles generates) prevent this bug :)

Thank you, now it's fixed. I also have caught bug with Amarok don't quits, until mood files generation would be completed.

 script doesn't start

 by amihere007 on: Jan 12 2011

Hi,

after installing the script and restarting Amarok to load it a window with text "can't find moodbar" appears and the script seems dead (It is checked in a list of scripts but no moodbar generated or script settings shown in the menu).

I use 2.3.90 version on KDE 4.5 RC2, did you try it with this version of Amarok?

Try to execute moodbar command. If you don't have this command, try to install this: http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/Moodbar

There are some versions of moodbar generator. Difference between 0.52 and 0.53 versions is only icon in menu. Please write more info. Do amarok shows script menu in settings?

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
