A KDE utility similar to Jing or Skitch not yet as powerful as them ;)
Nice, but what is it?
It's an app that sit in the systray, left clicking the icon you can capture a screen region to draw arrows, boxes and text
on it, than you can save the result (the screenshots shown here are made with this app).

This program has the following features:
* Screen capture
* Ability to draw arrows, boxes, ellipses and text on the captured region
* Ability to choose color, size and font of your drawings
* FTP/SFTP Upload with clipboard support for custom code. Custom code? It can be a web site pointing to the ftp directory where the image has been uploaded. When the upload finish Kaption will copy the code into the clipboard so you can share the screenshot quickly with anybody

WARNING: Do not forget the -D option in cmake, other way some file will not be installed correctly and you will miss notifications and translations.
After unpacking the source code, run:
$ cmake CMakeLists.txt -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=`kde4-config --prefix`
$ make
$ sudo make install

These are todos collected in no certain order:
* Be able to add a shadow to the final image when saved/uploaded
* Be able to change (on fly or through configuration) shadow settings
* The actual icon is from Ksnapshot :) Maybe would be better to use a proper icon...
* Icons, icons and icons...
* Be able to share the image using different storage services (Dropbox, Amazon S3...)
* Be able to change the font (color, family and size) of the text element
* New graphic elements

Thanks to pointing it out. Now the .desktop contains the exec key.

This is my first KDE app (actually first open source application published) so sorry for any inconvenience :)

This looks promising, I always missed this feature in KSnapshot :)

It seems to be usefull even for "normal" users, maybe a merge between your app and ksnapshot one day ?

Please add:
- change shadow offset (It would be perfect a darker and blur shadow)
- add arrow key control

Very good start. Would be better is you use the great exporting tool of KDE : Kipi-Plugins

More possibilities for the editing tools : text (size and color), Arrows (size and color) and Box (size and color) would be awesome

Thank you.

I will look at kipi-plugins, it could be interesting.

About new editor features, they are already planned, but I don't know when will be released. Right now I'm working to fix bugs and to improve the ui.

Hi, i'd like to contribute with the Greek translation, you can find it here: http://glenbox.free.fr/files/kaption_el.po

I allready asked to be included in the Mageia distribution a rpm of kaption:

so, users of mageia can find this application in the mageia's repositories

Hi, thank you.

Anyway for future translation you can join the project on transifex.net. Just send me a request to be the coordinator for the Greek team.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
 Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
 I do not like some of the changes.
 KDE is taking the wrong way.
 I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
 I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
