Hi,

Thanks for the error message. Just delete those extras words (eg: QwtPieCurve::, etc...) from the specified lines and it will compile. I will make a new release correcting these problems tomorrow.

Regards,
Ion

One sugestion: why don't check at time compiling if muParser and Qwt is avaible in the system?

Hi again,

The reason is that for QtiPlot you need a slightly modified version of Qwt 4.2.0 and because sometimes Ingo Berg the developper of muParser sends me versions of muParser which are not officially released yet, and I include them in QtiPlot.

In the future, when I will port to Qwt5, I will surely follow your suggestion.

Ion

 64 bit arch

by saqer on: Mar 14 2006

Score 50%

thank you for the peace of software. I own a 64 bit machine and I can see that the installation directory for the qti+3party libraries are hard coded in the .pro files as lib. After the source compiles I had to link manually the qti modules from the /usr/lib to /usr/lib64 !

How can I make the qmake know about the correct library locations for the specific arch?

Hello,

Nothing is hardcoded into the .pro file, since you can easily modify it using any text editor you like and you can set all the paths to any value you want!

The .pro file provided with the QtiPlot archive is just an example and it reflects the file system configuration on my machine! You should definitely modify it!

thank you. I already added a couple of lines inside each of the .pro files to check for the cpu and suffix a 64 to the /use/lib entries and it worked.

It is a very promissing software and I will be always looking for improvements.

By the way, where to we report suggestions and improvements? Just by direct mailing to the author?

 Changelog 0.8.1

Hello, just noticed a funny thing in your changelog comments. Surely correct behaviour is -1^2=1.

Or do I have the wrong end of the stick!

Hi,
Mathematically speeking you are wrong: -1^2 = -1; (-1)^2=1.
From the programmer's point of view the result depends on the precedence of the power operator.

 two additions

by saqer on: Apr 16 2006

good piece of software indeed. I would like to see these two additions to the software which will be a very good plus:

1- Adding horizontal and vertival lines to the list of symbols like squares and diamonds.

2- allowing multiple fonts to be invoked into single entry; like in grace.

Hello,

Thanks for your comments and suggestions! I will see what I can do for the first point.

Regarding the second one, I don't use Grace, and I don't plan to use it, so please could you be more explicit about it? Like sending me a screenshot describing the feature? I don't understand what "allowing multiple fonts to be invoked into single entry" means!

thank you for the reply. As for the second suggestion think of latex way of controling typesetting. If you are writing a title, then you can specify different fonts/sizes for different words/letters within the title. qtiplot now only allows a global font and font size setting for each field. I will try to create a screenshot and post it here later.

Hi,

You can allready achieve this by using the HTML font tags in any of the text dialogs.

Hi,

The reason is most probably the fact that QwtPlot3D is not shipped with the QtiPlot archive anymore. You have to install it before you try to compile QtiPlot. The procedure is explained in the INSTALL notes on QtiPlot homepage.

Ion

 Error compiling

by Coproscefalo on: May 17 2006

Hi there !!!

I just downloaded the new version and there's a problem compiling it:

make[1]: *** No rule to make target `../3rdparty/zlib123/minigzip.c', needed by `../tmp/qtiplot/minigzip.o'.

It's looking for an unexistent file under the 3rdparty folder. I've tried commenting out the inclusion of the file on the qtiplot.pro file, but it still needs it at the time of linking...

Seems that the file was not included in the tar.gz package, I'll try again with the zip package or I'll wait for the updated tarball.

By the way, thanks for this piece of software, keep up the good work.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
