KDE Improvement

Taskbar v2 (flat + thumbnails)

Minimum required   KDE 3.3.x
Downloads:  28959
Submitted:  Sep 17 2004
Updated:  Mar 28 2005

Description:

A beautiful taskbar for kicker.

features:
o flat and transparent (if kicker is transparent)
o animated thumbnail views (animation equations correspond to kpager2)

You probably need to restart kicker after adding the taskbar.

based on taskbar of kde 3.2

compilation:
FIX the file modification times first:
find . -print -exec touch {} \;

Then
(make -f Makefile.cvs)
./configure
make
su
make install

If it doesn't work, you probably need to remove the autom4te directory. Moreover, using mtaskbar.kdevelop will help in any case.

Have fun!

Hallo everyone,

I uploaded a gentoo ebuild for this great KDE improvement.

Thanks to Sebastian (creator of Taskbar v2) and Dirk (created the ebuild) for providing it!

Here it is:

I like the transparancy, but I don't like the popping up of previews... could you provide a easy way to turn them off?

btw most screenshots feature the popup preview too... :(

Yeah, it would be nice if Taskbar did not take a snapshot of the program currently shown in the miniature.
Good job anyway!

Even though I can understand those who don like the previews popping up, I really like them. I think they're useful and looking really good.

 semi-transparent

Does anyone know how to activate the semi-transparency on the buttons? I was able to do it under Suse 9.2, but can't seem to figure out how to do it in 9.1. I can't remember if it's in a config file or in a menu option. Thanks.

 De-activate thumbs

Hi,

is there any way to disable thumbnails being made? I've got Opera running on maximum size on my 2nd desktop and I notice videos beginning to stutter, when the screenshot (almost 1600x1200 size, my screen resolution) is being made.

Any solution for that?

Best regards and respect to lucher, this thing really kicks ass

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
