KDE Improvement

Taskbar v2 (flat + thumbnails)
zoom

Link:  http://
Depends on  KDE 3.3.x
Downloads:  28959
Submitted:  Sep 17 2004
Updated:  Mar 28 2005

Description:

A beautiful taskbar for kicker.

features:
o flat and transparent (if kicker is transparent)
o animated thumbnail views (animation equations correspond to kpager2)

You probably need to restart kicker after adding the taskbar.

based on taskbar of kde 3.2

compilation:
FIX the file modification times first:
find . -print -exec touch {} \;

Then
(make -f Makefile.cvs)
./configure
make
su
make install

If it doesn't work, you probably need to remove the autom4te directory. Moreover, using mtaskbar.kdevelop will help in any case.

Have fun!

 KDE 3.4?

by paxx on: Apr 11 2005

I didn't spot any error upon compiling, but I see no difference... Same old kicker, same old taskbar... Does it not work with KDE 3.4 or do I need to do something to get the new taskbar showing?

With kicker's contextmenu throw out the taskbar applet and put in the taskbar2 applet.

 MPlayer troubles :(

I love this applet, 2 issues i have with it:
1. mplayer ...how do i add the video window to the exclude list?
... main window i've managed to exclude it, but i have no ideea what to add for the video content window there.
2. For some reason, if i change the
showThumbnails to false in
/home/vtx/.kde/share/config/libmtaskbarrc,
after a KDE restart the value is again set to true (i've changed my permission to read-only the file and it's ok now :))

I agree that it should be included by default in KDE :)

Yeah....I have the exact same thing....I thought it was my system just being slow, but then I tried a fresh install of mepis on a second hard disk and was suprised to find that DVD playback was fine. So then I went through each program I have trying to figure out which was making DVD playback skip.....and I found it....mtaskbar....but I love it and don't want to go back to the old taskbar....so what I want to do is put MPlayer in the "exclude" list....I've tried about 100 combinations right now and can't seem to get it....for the video window of mplayer (or the whole mplayer program...I don't care) what is the "className" and "windowRole" and what exactly should I type into the "exceptions" box??

 Composite?

Sorry if I repeat a request, but I can't
find it anywhere.

It would be great if the taskbar supported
composite -> screenshots without raising windows.

 Text not visible

by Czak on: Jun 2 2005

Score 50%

Hi. I like the taskbar a lot, apart from one thing: when I hover over the active window button in the taskbar, its text becomes invisible (the text color becomes the same as the background). The background- and minimized-window buttons work fine.

Yeah i know I don't need to read the description for the active window as it is well...active and on top. But it doesn't look fine.

It doesn't matter what color scheme I ude in kde, and enable the transparency for kicker or not.

Is there a way to change it?

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
